Dean massaged his temples, struggling against the headache that was threatening to bloom into something much worse. He shifted slightly in the front seat, dropping his hand without thinking to the furry head in his lap. He wondered briefly if he should climb into the back seat and try to get some sleep, but he knew better.

Sammy was missing. There would be no sleep for Dean.

He realized he was scratching their shape-shifted friend's ears as though she were a real dog, but he found it soothing.

"Bugging you?" Smirking at her contented groan, "Sammy always wanted a dog..."
