It was so faint, Terri would've thought he'd imagined it, if not for his body's sudden movement.
Hic!
There it was again. His body shook once as his diaphragm convulsed. A smile crept onto his lips as he realized what was going on.
His brother had the hiccups.
Well, technically they both had the hiccups, but his hiccups were always silent. Terry's were audible, and very high-pitched. It contrasted strongly with his normal voice, which was deeper than Terri's.
He looked up at his brother with a grin as their chest heaved again.
Hic!
The small sound escaped Terry's mouth just before he could clamp his lips shut. But he knew for sure that his brother had heard him. Still the taller brother glanced down before looking back at the television monitor quickly.
"The TV's in front of us, you know."
The younger twin just smiled, not removing his gaze.
Hic!
Terri chuckled once, knowing he just had to wait. He leaned back into the couch and rested his arm on the back. He loved it when they got the hiccups. He continued to gaze up at his brother, one edge of his smile higher than the other. Terry ignored his brother for a moment before sighing and facing his brother.
"What are you staring a- hic!"
He covered his mouth quickly as red spread on his face. His mouth had been wide open and that hiccup had been loud. So loud, he pondered for a second if anyone else in the fraternity house had heard it. He couldn't be sure. What he was sure of, however, is that his brother had heard it.
Not a minute after the funny sound, Terri laughed again, this time out loud.
The older twin removed his hand and hmph'ed indignantly. "I don't see what's so fun- hic!"
Terri laughed a few more times, grinning widely.
Terry's brow lowered and his face grew brighter with embarrassment. "Stop laughing."
The younger monster shut his mouth and looked up at his brother, trying to hold back his chuckles. Any moment now…
Hic!
Terri tried but he really couldn't. He laughed again at the funny sound, pressing a hand to his forehead.
"Terri!"
"I'm sorry, but-" He beamed at Terry, barely able to speak through his giggles. "They're just so squeaky!"
Despite his attempts to stay mad, the older twin couldn't help it when the edges of his lips began to twitch upward.
Hic!
He struggled to keep a scowl, but it didn't help when his brother busted up laughing again. Against his will, Terry began to smile, then chuckle, then laugh, and soon he was laughing with his brother, the squeaky hiccups interrupting every few seconds. However, that only made them laugh harder.
