It was one of those days you would remember, 85 degrees and a light, perfect breeze, the sun high and no really bad news on the radio.
It was a Thursday both Penny and Sheldon had off and they wanted to make the day special out of no certain reason. For once in their lives, just because. (Penny took credit for exactly this phrase in Sheldon's Timer: Just because). It drove Sheldon crazy but Penny loved it and Sheldon loved Penny and that simple fact alone settled any further disagreements of the couple.
It was a 50 minutes drive from Pasadena to the beach. That special beach Penny loved so much, not far from Santa Monica. "It is quiet there. Not many people. Lovely I swear!" Penny explained while she put an exited Emily into her child car seat. Sheldon really was a bit skeptical but he just could not resist his daughter's laughter or the happiness in Penny's eyes.
"You will survive Sheldon. I promise!" The blonde woman reassured her husband of four years. She closed the backdoor of the car and the moment she set down in the driver seat she jumped back out. "I will be right back!" she screamed over her shoulder and run back to the apartment building. "Where is Mama going?" Emily looked out of her window. "The better question, my dear: What is it that your Mother has possibly forgotten that is of such a great importance?" - "What has Mama forgotten, Daddy?" The two and a half year old girl asked again. At this Sheldon turned around on his seat: "I have absolutely no idea honey!". Emily laughed, her blue eyes shining, "But Daddy, you have to know! You know everything!". Now it was Sheldon's turn to laugh because there was one thing he was fairly sure of; concerning Penny he really knew nothing and that was what made him love her so much.
It took Penny five minutes to return with her SLR Camera. "Don't! say one word deary!" she requested while passing her precious camera over to her husband.
The drive was filled of laughter, singing and Sheldon taking pictures whenever Penny was asking him to.
"How long Mamma?" Emily asked in a quiet moment, the last ten or so minutes they drove past the ocean. "Just a few more minutes, honey!" Penny reassured her daughter, looking into the rearview mirror and truthfully it was two minutes later that Penny pulled to the side and parked the car behind several others.
"Here we are!" Penny laughed cheerfully, Emily clapped her hands. Sheldon shook his head slowly but couldn't suppress the smile while he got out of the car and taking a snapshot of Penny dancing with their daughter
The three spent the day building castles of sand and taking walks along the shore, taking photos and makings memories.
It was a day they would remember.
