Sneaking Around

"Come on, Muscles, just a little more."

Daniel stopped dead in his tracks when he heard Vala's familiar husky tones emanating from the supply closet. Why did she sound so out of breath? Against his better judgement, the archaeologist crept closer to the open door, nearly dropping the books he carried as he took in the sight before him. Vala was perched atop Teal'c's shoulders, rummaging through one of the shelves. Okay, not what he'd been expecting. Shrugging off the feeling of relief that filtered through him, Daniel continued to watch the two aliens in confusion.

"Vala Mal Doran, it is inadvisable for me to push you higher."

"Oh, come on, I only need a few more inches to be able to reach them." Vala looked down at Teal'c with a small pout Daniel knew all too well, one he found hard to resist. It appeared Teal'c suffered from the same inability to deny her anything as he sighed in resignation and hitched her higher.

"There, just another inch. I'm...almost...there. Got it!" she yelled, jerking backward as she clutched her prize to her chest. "All right, Muscles, you can put me down now."

Teal'c grabbed her under the arms, lifted her over his head and set her on the floor, a small smile playing on his lips. Vala returned the smile with her own Cheshire Cat grin.

Daniel continued to stare at the two aliens for another moment before finally finding his voice. "What the hell is going on here?"

Vala jumped with a surprised squeak and stood behind Teal'c, peeking out with a guilty expression. "Oh, hello, darling, We didn't realise anyone else was here."

"Obviously. What are you two doing?"

"Not that it's any of your business, Daniel," Vala huffed indignantly, finally emerging from behind her much taller companion. "But we were just helping ourselves to a midnight snack. Want one?" She held up a bag of Oreos with another grin."

"You let her talk you into this?" He turned to Teal'c in surprise.

"It was his idea." Vala defended herself.

Daniel sent her a dubious look before glancing at the Jaffa questioningly.

"Indeed, she is telling the truth, Daniel Jackson." Teal'c nodded. "We were having a Star Wars marathon when we decided to seek sustenance."

Daniel blinked a few times at this answer, more than a little disturbed. After a few moments, however, he threw up his hands and walked away, muttering. "Crazy aliens."

Teal'c and Vala turned to reach other as he left, shrugging.

"More for us." Vala grinned, taking her friend's hand and pulling him back toward her quarters.

"Indeed."

The End
