Iruka collapsed back into his chair and sat looking at the window Kiba, Shikamaru, Choji, and Naruto had just disappeared through. As he mused on just how to get those four to focus during class he heard a knock at his classroom door.
"Coming," he said as he stood to go let whomever it was in. However, he didn't have time to even walk from behind his desk before the door opened and three good sized grey dogs came barreling through. In their wake came a woman Iruka recognized as Kiba's older sister, Hana.
She smiled as the dogs nuzzled into the young sensei and then turned to face the classroom, surprise showing on her face when she found it empty. She turned back to Iruka and raised an eyebrow. He responded by sighing and pointing out the window.
"Ah," she said in understanding. A snap of her fingers and the triplets were standing at attention. "Go get him and bring him home."
In a flurry of grey fur the dogs were out the window, baying in excitement at the prospect of the chase. Hana sighed and sat back on one of the desks, looking at the man across from her.
"It's pathetic isn't it, a teacher not even being able to get his students to sit and listen for five minutes." Iruka said with a scowl as he looked out the window rather than meeting Hana's gaze. She smiled at him and cocked her head to the side.
"Actually, if my memory of the academy is correct, getting a kid to sit still for more than 30seconds is a grand accomplishment, especially if that kid is Kiba." came her reply. Iruka looked up in surprise, but said nothing. "Kiba speaks very highly of you too. He seems to think you're some kind of superhero, with eyes in the back of your head and perfect chalk aim."
This made Iruka laugh.
"Those are kind of necessities if you're going to teach," he said with a smile, "otherwise I'd end up with a practice shuriken someplace very uncomfortable."
It was Hana's turn to laugh at this.
"True, true." she stated, before fixing Iruka with an intense gaze that made him shift uncomfortably in his seat. Hana smirked at the small movement causing Iruka to recognize the stare for the challenge that it was. He then fearlessly met her gaze, causing her smirk to widen into a smile.
"Yes," Hana nodded, "I'd say you're definitely qualified to teach, even if you do have a class that contains my focus deprived little brother."
"Thank you." Iruka smiled just as a long howl drew their attention. Hana looked victorious.
"Sounds like the triplets caught up with the little vagabond. Care to join me in rounding him up? You can lecture him all the way back to the house, and I'm sure my mother would love to have you stay for dinner. She's been wanting to get to know you better."
It took Iruka a moment to recover from his shock at this before he smiled and nodded.
"I'd like that." He said, picking up his bag and following Hana to the door.
As they walked from the academy in the direction of the howling Hana took the opportunity to grasp Iruka's hand firmly in her own. After all, Inuzuka's are nothing if not forward.
