Shang's P.O.V

"You don't meet a girl like that every dynasty."

The words echoed through his brain as he began to lead his horse out of the stable.

"Of course not; not just any women joined the army, none of them that were found have ever survived, none of them were acknowledged by the emperor of China and furthermore not many women are that good of fighters." Shang muttered to himself. His horse snorted at him, it's sad when an animal makes fun of you Shang thought. He mounted his steed and set off for home.

Shang dismounted a few hours later and sat near a river to let his horse drink while he thought back to what had happened over the past few weeks. He had been made captain of the new recruits and took on the task that seems almost as if it were impossible. He had brought them all as far as the fight with the Huns. Where Mulan, who was under the masquerade of Fa Ping had saved them all; especially himself. After the fight he promptly paid her back with judging eyes; he saved her life, even the law said otherwise. She came back for them afterwards; in the imperial city she tried to warn them…

"She only ever tried to help us" Shang mused aloud. Although he wouldn't admit it aloud he had been happy to see Mulan come back to them, and it was a good thing she had too. Shang shook his head, riding it of the thought he had just started, about a certain female soldier. He grabbed his horse and was about to mount up when he heard a clank of metal. He raised an eyebrow in questioning and looked for the noises source. A dark green helmet was what had made the noise.

"Mulan's helmet? Why is it in my things?" He questioned, he frowned thinking of how she wouldn't even miss it since she would probably never need it again. A twinge of sadness washed over him as he realized how he would probably not see her again. Unless… Unless he went to her to return it. It wasn't like the village she lived in was that far from his own; he could easily go and see her on his way home. Fine he thought to himself, he needed some way to say what he had been thinking at the emperor's palace and yet all that had been able to come out of his mouth was: "you fight good". He wanted to say how she was an incredible woman, and he had been proud to have her in his unit. He had to tell her that, he realized.

As he walked into the garden he asked the two women if Mulan was there and they pointed him in her direction. He saw a man who he assumed was her father and stepped forward to talk to him. Mulan jumped up from behind him and Shang's heart stopped, then went into overdrive. He became flustered just looking at her, she was amazing and beautiful and brave, and he knew then that he had fallen for her.

Okay First ever fanfic, please don't be to harsh, I just thought I should probably write something on this site instead of just reading what everyone else writes and either saving the names of the writers or complaining about what is wrong with it. XD I hope you liked my story, I know it might be rough since I wrote it on a whim!
