A/N: Challenge response. Emily and Charlie go to see Bosco and Faith

Disclaimer: I OWN NOTHING

Together we walked into the hospital. We had taken a cab. We had gotten home form school that afternoon and Dad was home, strange since he worked till five-thirty. Then he told us, that Mom had been involved. He didn't tell us if she was alive or if she was dead. He didn't tell us if Bosco was dead or if he was alive. We ate our dinner in silence. Since we still had to share a bedroom, after dinner when we had gone to do our homework. Charlie spoke to me, "Em... Do you think Mom is alive?"

I looked up from my psychology book, and shrugged, "Yeah...I'm sure she is." I said.

"Can we go to Mercy and see for ourselves," he asked, "And I want to see if Uncle B's ok." He added.

I couldn't turn him down, I sighed, "Go quietly get your coat, and mine," I said, "I'll call a cab and get my money." I said as I rolled off the bed, and walked to my dresser I pulled my lock box out and pulled out enough money for a cab and food. I grabbed my purse and met Charlie at the door and pulled on my coat.

We moved quickly and hailed a cab. Twenty minutes later we were at Angel of Mercy. We walked up the desk, "Is there a Faith Yokas here," I asked. The volunteer shook her head. "A Maurice Boscorelli," she nodded and told us room 4224. We thanked her and moved on by now Charlie was frantic. The elevator seemed to move like a turtle. We walked up the hall and stopped and knocked. I heard my mother's scratchy, horse, and tearful voice, say enter. We pushed open the door and stopped when she turned, her eyes puffy and red.

"Emily, Charlie what are you doing here," she asked, embracing us both at the same time.

"Dad told us something happened and nothing more we wanted to make sure you were ok and to see if Uncle B was ok too." I said.

"I'm fine, Dad doesn't know you're here does he," she said as I shook my head no.

"Can we stay Mom, please," I asked. I watched her nod; I saw some blood still on her cheek. I licked my thumb and wiped it off like she had always done when I was a little girl and I had a dirty face, then I hugged her. We moved back to Bosco's bed, Charlie sat on the bed next to him and rambled on and on in a hushed tone about baseball, football, basketball, soccer, and any sport he could get his hands on. I sat on Mom's lap and kept and arm around her as she cried.

Long after Charlie and Mom had fallen asleep, I stood and covered them and then sat next to Bosco on the free side. "Uncle B, Its Emily. The doctor said, that you could probably here me, Mom loves you Uncle B, so do Charlie and I. You got to get better Uncle B, We need to you too." I said before pulling another chair over and sitting down taking his hand I squeezed it. I watched the steady rise and fall of his chest, the machine breathing for him; I looked once at his face. Then I fell asleep head, on the bed, his hand in mine.
