Charlie felt left out. He needed a 'thing'.
Nick would go under for days, take his exam then get completely drunk, but then he was one of the few already over twenty-one.
Amad wouldn't speak at all unless people made too much noise, then he'd yell at the top of his lungs for quiet.
When Charlie sat morose at the dinner table his mother asked him what was wrong.
When he told her she stifled a laugh, picked up his left hand and showed it to him.
Charlie went back to study group to test her theory. When he asked them what nervous behaviors they all had for finals everyone pegged Marshall as a smoker, Justine as a coffee addict and Charlie as the nail biter.
He was happy.
He felt like he belonged.
