When it was Don's turn, he sat by his mother's bedside and said yes to every promise she asked of him. Yes, he'd look after Charlie. Yes, he'd encourage his father to date again. Yes, he'd make time for love in his life, not just focus on work.

When it was Charlie's turn, he buried his head on her chest and cried, telling her over and over that he was sorry. She tried to tell him he'd done nothing wrong, but in the end she just threaded her frail fingers soothingly through her little boy's hair and forgave him - knowing that was what he needed to hear.

When it was Alan's turn, he just held her hand and told her he loved her until she heard no more.
