Never Forget

Chihiro lay on the grass at the bottom of the garden, humming gently to herself. The warm summer's breeze skimmed the across the grass and she felt relaxed in the warm sun.

She heard the gentle flow of the river and sighed. The river meant one thing to her, and that was the only boy she ever had feelings for. Haku. She hadn't told anyone about him, not even her mother and she felt incredibly close to her, since the… the incident. She smiled now at the memory of it, knowing her parents has been pigs for a short while.

She had eventually gone to her new school and had made friends with a loud, fun girl, Akiko. They had gotten close and talked for hours after school about everything under the sun. Yet, as close as they were, Chihiro had never told her about… him.

Thinking of him now, she smiled. She had noticed there was no one like him in the world, or at school. His face appeared in her mind now and she smiled again. The paleness of his face, the softness of his hair, the light that gleamed in his eyes, that smile he gave her… She sighed again.

"I miss you, Haku," she whispered.

"Chihiro…"

She spun her head and stared around her. She had heard him… hadn't she? No she was going mad. All she could see was the little house and the rest of the garden. Her head moved back to the river again and her eyes went wide.

Haku. There. Standing in the river. He was stood there clothed in a white robe, his eyes alight with glory, his hair whipping across his face.

She scrambled to her feet, her trainers squeaking as she ran across the grass, her plain dress flying out behind, her hair bobbing up and down (still held in place by the band of friendship).

She splashed out into the river, trying to throw her arms around him but… Haku was gone!

"No! Haku!" she sobbed. As she brushed the tears from her eyes, she spotted a shining object in the water. Quickly, she scooped the object and discovered it was a… Bottle. A glass bottle, with… With something inside it!

Excited by this, she unscrewed the lid and pulled out a screwed up piece of paper. Unfurling, the curious object, she read:

Chihiro,

I… I don't know what to say now. I've tried writing this so often, but I seem to get everything wrong.

Chihiro, I can't stop thinking about you. You're are an amazing person, and I wish there was someway we could be together. But I'm a spirit, and you're a mortal. I'm sorry.

There's one thing though. Later on in life, when it's your time, I will be there, holding your hand, by your side, for an eternity. So wait for me, as I will wait for you. Just don't forget me. I will never forget you. I love you.

Haku x

All Chihiro could do was smile. Because she knew, she would wait. She loved him too.
