Summary: Mourning in the downpour.

----------------

It was raining.

He had skipped tennis practice, and Sanada was going to blow a fuse next Monday, but he didn't care. Yukimura would be disappointed in him. Yanagi would understand.

He was ditching practice. For what? To sit on the roof of the Rikkai Dai Fuzoku school building and watch the rain fall.

He hated the rain. Hated it with a passion.

It was raining on the night that he packed his bags, and hopped on the only one way train to Never Never land.

Expressionless, calm, and perfect. That is what makes up the elements of Yagyuu. What made Yagyuu so different from Niou. Niou, who was never unemotional, never composed, and so full of flaws, that he makes Kirihara look normal. But Yagyuu is the inverse reflection of Niou, and within Niou lies the true Yagyuu. One cannot exist without the other, and if one doesn't exist, then neither does.

The volume and velocity of the rain increased. It was now falling faster, in bigger drops towards the unforgiving hell that was life on earth.

Yagyuu was the strong one. Stable and solid, both physically and mentally.

Niou was as flexible as an illusion. He could be anything and everything, and sometimes even nothing.

He was nearly soaked to the bone. Thousands upon thousands of droplets of water fell around him, on him, and sometimes through him.

"I'm leaving for a few days."

"For where?"

"Some place in Okinawa."

"Does Yukimura know?"

"If I don't show up for a few days, he'll know."

"I'll see you again later?"

"Later."

"You liar. You never came back."

"…What?"

"Yagyuu. Niou isn't coming back from Okinawa."

"Why not? He told me that he would."

"Yagyuu, look at this."

"Did you know? You made the front page of the newspaper. Seventy two people confirmed dead. Fourty nine critically injured. Twenty three unaccounted for."

"The train he was on. It derailed around the mountain area. Fell three hundred and fifty seven hundred feet before it crashed and combusted. He didn't die in the accident Yagyuu. He died during the wait for emergency medical help. "

"Yagyuu…"

"YAGYUU."

"What? I'm sorry."

"…I'm sorry too."

The sky darkened and thunder clouds gathered among the rain clouds. He couldn't feel his arms or legs anymore.

Without a Niou, the Yagyuu within Yagyuu no longer existed. The small part that was Niou within Yagyuu becomes the Yagyuu that never was, but the fraction is far too small.

Yagyuu felt his bones creak when he stood, but walked over to the small overhang from the roof that was protecting his school bag.

After all, a fraction of Yagyuu must re-exist to deal with the fraction of Niou that is now Yagyuu.

And Yagyuu went home.

Behind him, the downpour came down harder.
