Unrequited Love
She knew. She knew that it would be like this. That her love would mean nothing to him. That whatever she did, whatever she said, wasn't going to be enough. She knew from the beginning that it was unrequited. Her love for him . . . unrequited.
She knew when he first entered the classroom. The way he grinned made her melt. The way he talked made her heart flutter. The way he looked was different and she loved him for his individuality. But when she went up to go say hi to him, he brushed by her and went to greet another girl in the class who immediately huffed away from him.
Her love unrequited.
She knew when she watched him train hard. He wanted to be noticed, to be taken seriously of, and to be the best. She silently cheered him on from where she stood. Behind him, hiding from him. He was strong, she was weak. He was determined, she gave up easily. He was open, she was shy. Different like day and night. How could they possibly match perfectly together the way she wanted them to be? So she stayed in her hiding place.
Her love unrequited.
She knew when she noticed from everyone who graduated, that he was the only one who didn't pass. He looked so alone and dissappointed on that swing. He tried really hard, but he failed anyway. His hard work, was it for nothing? She heard two mothers whispering to each other about the boy. He's a disgrace they say. He shouldn't be a ninja they say. Those words made her blood boil. How dare they judge him! They don't know how hard he was practicing to pass! She wanted to say something, stand up for him. But her mouth remained closed. She didn't want to make a scene, especially with her father around. Besides, the boy wouldn't be able to see her stand up for him for he was long gone. She sighed.
Her love unrequited.
She knew when she started to train harder. She wanted to be strong. She wanted to be a better person. She wanted not just him, but everyone to notice how strong she really was. But even when she trained, she'd failed the missions terribly. And worst of all, she made a fool out of herself in the exams. As she laid on the floor, in pain, she wondered did she do good? Was it enough? Did he notice her? Did anyone notice her? She saw a figure, but her sight was too blurry to make out who it was. Was it him? She softly said his name before her world went black.
Her love unrequited.
She knew when he was leaving on his two year training trip. It came to a shock at first, but she realized that he wanted this for a long time. To get away for a while, to learn new things, to grow, mature, and blossom to the person he wanted to be. She smiled. He was going to come back a different person. Not entirely different, he would still be that same loud-mouth ninja. But he will become greater than he was when he was a kid and she would fall in love with him even more. She watched him leave Konoha and she bid him a silent good luck. As she did that she also promised not only to him, but to herself and everyone else, that she too would train and become a better person. Then he would notice who she really was.
Hinata finally realized that her love for Naruto was not unrequited . . . it just went un noticed. And she was determined to make him see that she loved him with all her heart.
