I never thought that things would be okay again between Max and I.

See, when he first kissed me, and then we slept together, I thought nothing of it. A bit of fun, nothing harmful, or anything to be worried about.

But then, as the weeks passed, I realized something-he was falling for me. And I began to realize that I was falling for him, too. Max Walker had stolen my heart. Me, a Doctor, and him, a porter. Have you ever heard such a thing?

I got scared. After Nick, I decided not to "do" commitment, or relationships any more.

But then Max-lovely, cheeky, flirty Max bounced into the ED, and my life changed.

Whilst I was away, I had a lot of time to think. Trouble was, I couldn't stop thinking about him.

When I returned to Holby, I thought he didn't love me anymore… I was wrong.

It's a Friday afternoon and I'm glad about it. For the last week, Connie has been on my back, snapping at me, I feel ill and it's freezing outside. I can't wait to go home tonight and put my feet up.

I hear a commotion outside my office, and get up and rush to the door to see what's going on.

At the exact moment I reach to open the door, someone come in and the door hits me square on the head. That's when everything goes black.

I come round a while later.

"Zoe? Zoe?" it's Tess.

"Where am I?" I ask.

"You're in a side room. We're going to keep you in for the afternoon, Lily mentioned that you've been under some stress via Connie?" Tess raises her eyebrows at me questioningly.

"Yeah." I mutter. Thanks very much, Lily. Not. I don't like to admit I'm struggling, I think it makes me look weak.

"Max was the one who brought you here, though. As soon as you hit the floor he rushed to your side, shoved everyone out of the way and brought you here." She said.

"Oh." I can only answer.

"He's here now, in fact. He told me to tell him if you woke up… Do you want me to?" Tess asks.

"Yes please." I smile.

Tess goes out to see Max.

She returns a couple of minutes later. "Is it okay if he comes in?" she asks.

"Okay." I nod.

Max enters the room, looking worried.

"Hey." He says, nervously.

"Hello. Tess, could you give us a couple of minutes…?" I ask.

She nods and exits the room.

"How's your head then, Spiderman?" he asks, using the nickname he gave me whilst we were together.

I chuckle. "All right, thank you, Mary-Jane. I heard that you were quite the superhero."

He ducks his head and blushes. "Tess told you, then?" he asks.

"Yes… listen, about us…" I struggle to find the words to ask him why he did what he did.

"Well… Zo, I'm just going to say it. You can put me on as many extra shifts, snitch on me to Connie, get Robyn to-" I shut him up by glaring at him.

"Spit it out!" I order.

"Fine. I still love you. My heart stopped when I saw you on that floor." He says.

"I love you too… when I was away, I couldn't stop thinking about you." I admit.

He smiles-the smile which makes me melt, the smile which I have missed a lot.

"So… can I kiss you?" he asks.

"Of course you can! For a superhero, you can be pretty da-" I'm cut off by his lips on mine.

We break apart a minute or so later to see Tess standing a few metres away, a quizzical expression on her face.

"So? I know you were together before… I guess you're going to give it another go?" she asks.

"We are." I reply.

"Damn right we are, Spiderman" Max grins before kissing me again.
