Morgan le Fay: Mistress of Avalon

In latter legends by Thomas Mallory she is the sister of King Author. Morgan married Urien and bore him Yvain. Mallory portrayed Morgan as a tempestuous and malefic woman who had many lovers and attempted to murder both her husband Urien and her brother King Author.

Learning the ways of magick from Merlin, she then used her knowledge of powers for control. She tricked King Author into sleeping with her and this union produced Mordred, the son who brought discord to Camelot and died inflicting a fatal wound on his father.

But these tales and others are of late date. The real life of Morgan le Fay is a beautiful story of a Goddess who always placed the mystical island of Avalon first. Who always done wrong for the right reason, and yet would do right for the wrong reason. As her story unfolds do not judge this beautiful Lady so harsh but instead open your mind, your heart and your soul to a goddess that wanted to keep Avalon alive.

In the end you will realize she has done just that!

Avalon was inhabited by nine sisters. Morgan was the most beautiful and the dominant one. This kept the isle of Avalon lush in riches. The riches was not of gold or silver, but of love, of magick, of the fae. A mystical wonderland with plenty to eat, where the spirit of Goddess thrived. With beautiful apple orchards that blossomed for centuries. Where sprites danced and played on the waterfalls. Where life was lush and the sisters lived in their own paradise. A paradise called Afall in Welsh…Avalon.

Morgan was grateful for the powers that was bestowed upon her and of Avalon. She ruled this wondrous isle, not with malice but with love. She knew to keep Avalon as a paradise for the spirit of Goddess, this would take not thinking of one, but thinking of all that inhabited her. One night in her dreams the future was told. It showed Avalon empty of the sisters, empty of the souls that had came before and the magick being gone, of the isle being a vast wasteland of emptiness. Open awakening in a cold sweat and a mortal fear of sweat Morgan ran to the magick fountain, to aid in her foresight of the future. She spoke these words:

Fountain of Magick

Lady of the Lake

Hear my call,

I seek your wisdom

Your love and your guidance

I bow to thee, for one and all.

The fountain slowly swirled and the fog glistened as a pale face slowly appeared. The face was the beautiful Lady of the Lake. Her voice sang as if in a chorus, "Mistress Morgan what is pressing so deeply on your heart?" As Morgan explained her dreams and fears to the Lady of the Lake, she listened with her heart. She waited patiently as Morgan expressed her fears of Avalon becoming a lost isle floating on forever, of sorrow and loneliness.

The beautiful voice sang out, "But Lady Morgan of Avalon this is but a dream, this is your own worries invading your sleep. Avalon is of magick and will not disappear as a ghost ship in the night. The sisters worship in the spirit of Goddess, so the Goddess shines her light upon all of Avalon." Morgan sighed with relief and thanked the Lady of the lake for her valuable insight and watched her pale face dissipate in the foggy water. But as time went on she couldn't shake the message in her dreams.
