Hey guys. So, I haven't fallen off the earth. Don't worry. I'm sorry I haven't posted anything in a long time, but life happens.
So, anyway, for those of you who don't know, this story takes place in the 2016 MacGyver universe. It is quite possibly the best show ever. If you haven't seen it, go check it out. It's seriously worth your time.
for those of you who DO know, here's a one-shot for you. This takes place sometime during the first episode when Riley first sees Mac create something with a paperclip while at the same time she sees the bowl of paperclips. So yeah. Enjoy!
I don't own anything other than the plot line.
...
Riley was still trying to grasp what had just happened. Just this morning she wasn't sure if she would be returning back to the hell hole called prison, or if she had finally struck she way out. Never in a million years did she think she'd be even the slightest bit thankful for Jack Dalton, but she was now. Not that she'd ever admit to it.
But, here she was, walking into the one of the U.S.A.'s biggest secrets -DXS- as a part of the team just after watching her new teammate Mac fly out of the back of a truck that he had made explode. And that was just the tip of the iceberg. How was this even possible? She had no idea.
The people were nice enough, minus Jack. She was beginning to really like this job, and not just because of the benefits.
Riley followed her new team into a different part of the building than she had ever been in and into a room. It was simple enough. She looked at her surroundings as the people with her talked. A large (and quite impressive looking) screen covered the far wall with a picture of the globe posted on it. A few couched surrounded a table in the middle of the room. On the table was a bowl of... were those paperclips?
She watched Mac reach in the bowl and take one, his eyes never leaving the screen as Throton changed the images. "Are those paperclips?" She asked, cutting of her boss.
Everyone turned to her, and she suddenly felt extremely self conscious. It's not like having a bowl of paperclips as decoration was normal, right? She hadn't been in prison that long.
She felt a wave of relieve as Mac nodded at her, his hands still molding the paperclip in his hands. "Um.. yeah. I like to make things out of them when we're in here. It helps me focus and Thorton got tired of me stealing them from her papers." He said, he walked to stand infront of her and opened his palm. In it was a Phoenix. A bird she knew next to nothing about. But that's not what she was truly focused on. She lifted it carefully from his palm, as if not to break it. It was amazing.
"How did you?" She asked, inspecting the metal. It was unlike anything she had ever seen before.
"It's what Mac does." Said Jack from where he was standing. Mac smiled at her briefly before turning back to Throton, who went on to talk about something. Riley looked at the metal in her hand one more time and smiled before slipping it back into her pocket. She couldn't wait for the next mission.
