"Oh happy dagger, how-" Lucy Camden was saved by the bell. It was 2:30 on a Friday afternoon but she was not as excited as she usually was.

"I can't believe I have to study my lines for Romeo and Juliet all weekend!" she mumbled under her breath.

"One moment Miss. Camden" said Mrs. Richards, Lucy's English teacher." I have been watching you act and I would like it if you signed up for the next community play. Now, I know what you are thinking, but I have already put in a good word for you down at the community center. The next play they are doing is Romeo and Juliet. So it's not like you don't know the lines. You have been studying them for a while. Plus I will give you extra credit. Lots of it, which I think that you really need." Mrs. Richards was right. English wasn't Lucy's best subject, and she could really use all that extra credit.

"Ok Mrs. Richards I will think about it over the weekend and tell you on Monday." And with that Lucy was on her way out the school doors towards her parents car. Before she could go home, she had to go pick up Simon and Ruthie, and then she could go home and think about her teacher's proposition.

After she got home she went to her room where she was surprised to find Matt reading a copy of the community paper on Mary's bed

"Oh hey Luce, I was just catching up on the happenings of our community. Did you know that there is going be a play soon? I think it's going be Romeo and Juliet" Matt said matter of factly . Lucy smiled at her brothers quest for knowledge. "yes, Matt I knew about the play. In fact my English teacher is pressuring me into trying out for it. I think I will do it, it sort of sounds like fun, and I get lots of extra credit."

On Monday afternoon, Lucy dropped Simon and Ruthie off at home, she was on her way to the community center. When she got there, she signed in at the door and waited nervously until her name was called for auditions. She recited a page from the end of the play and after she was done she was happy with how well she did it.

" Even if I don't get the part, I am still happy with how I handled it!" she said to herself.

After about three hours and countless numbers of auditions by Glenn Oak citizens, the cast was posted. Lucy slowly made her way to the tiny piece of paper and when she got there she was short of breath. "Oh my god!! I am going to play Juliet!!" She yelled not realizing that people were staring at her. Then she felt a tap on her shoulder, and when she turned around she saw Brad, one of Matt's college buddies.

"oh hey, I heard you are going to play Juliet!"

"umm…ya I am," Lucy said shyly for she had always had a secret crush on him since the first day Matt brought him home for dinner," so… did you get a part?"

"Of course, I am " Brad said laughing," I am Romeo!"

what will Lucy's little crush become when opening day draws nearer?? Wait and you'll find out!!
