Their relationship had no symbol. There was no animal that existed that could possibly ever come close to describing them. If, Prussia thought, there was some kind of creature that symbolized their bond, it would be some kind of other-worldly animal, a kind of fire-spewing mix of species, a kind of monstrous, yet elegantly fused chimera. Perhaps they were doomed to fall, like the Greek legend, by the hands of a beautiful, mystical Pegasus, a symbol of beauty and peace. They weren't beautiful, or peaceful – no, they were far from it. They were passionate and fierce, and even if they were destined to die, then so be it. As long as they were together – that was all that mattered. The chimera was dark, a thing of immortal make, not quite one thing, and not quite the other. Their bond was taboo – disgusting, even, to the eyes of the world, and yet both Canada and Prussia would have it no other way. The chimera was a symbol of deception, fraud – and of nature at its most basic, raw and primal. And yet, Prussia still saw the beauty in the way the species were melded together, blood, flesh and bone melting together to form one unified being. In myths, the chimera was "evil," defeated by the "noble" heroes, always remembered for the wrongdoings it had committed. Just because it was different – it was cast off and labeled as unnatural, demonic even – just like them. The chimera's siblings were equally regarded – Cerberus, the three headed guardian of hell – and Hydra, the nine-headed water-dwelling "monster." Had anyone ever thought of the intelligence – or even the sentience of this creature before condemning it to die? It had been murdered, slaughtered because it was different. Because it had "dared" to stray from nature, it was "inhuman." Wasn't it in the same situation as them? They were "inhuman," "unnatural." Prussia just shrugged off all the cruel remarks, as always, and continued to love their "unnatural," "demonic" relationship – just as it was.
Because in his eyes, the chimera was beautiful, and nobody else had the right to say otherwise.
