Name: Talon Arc
Class: Knight.
Afilliation: Crusader leader of Trojan Company, one of many groups of knights banded together to protect the lower border settlements from Grimm and bandits. Unlike Huntsman, Crusaders defend the colonies for nothing as most are literally defending their homes.
Side: Neutral/Good
Sibling: Older brother of Jaune Arc, Second oldest in the Arc Family
Semblance: Force Aura- The ability to project Aura to do anything he desires, concrete or abstract.
Weapons:
Longsword-Ferrum Tempestas (StormBlade) and Shield-Tempestas Variegatum (StormSentry)
Twin Kodachi blades-Furor Impius Tempestas and Messor Tempestas (StormFury and StormReaper)
SDC Combat pistol (Unknown)
Personality: Stoic and silent, but is mentoring and caring when he needs to be. He is not afraid to spill blood, but he defines his kills as people too far gone to reintegrate into society. He is very formal to people and rarely jokes. Despite being the estrange brother to Jaune, he acts as a secondary father figure to the huntsman in training, always reprimanding him when he commits a foolish act. However he does care for his little brother and was the one who stole Crocea Mors from the family to give to Jaune. He has no affiliation with Ozpin, sensing a distrust to the headmaster and all those who follow him. Ozpin has attempted to persuade Talon to become a Huntsman to no avail as Talon views Huntsman as glorified mercenaries.
Strengths: He is a master with the Sword, able to wield it traditionally and unconventionally. His go to style is the Sith Shien: A stance where he holds the sword in reverse. When the sword is not applicable in the given situation, he will switch to his Kodachi's. His speed and his agility are legend, having been given the title, the untouchable Ninja. Able to use long combo like techniques, most opponents do not stand a chance when engaged with Talon. He has beaten Qrow and Winter due to them underestimating his ability to dodge and sneak around them. He has even engaged and fought Glynda Goodwitch to a standstill despite her use of her semblance.
Philosophy: Talon believes in all out combat. He holds nothing back in fighting. To him, to limit yourself to morals and honor, makes you both predictable and vulnerable. However in his travels, he as learned much and constantly lectures his siblings, especially Jaune on subjects pertaining to making choices to understanding the dark side of life.
Weakness: He is a glass cannon. He is very powerful, but a few hits can take him down. When utilizing Semblance, Talon can be taken down if his Aura is brought down by extensive use. While there is no record of him being defeated, He has been in scenarios where fleeing was the best option. He has fought and nearly lost Raven, and Cinder if it wasn't for something else intervening, giving him a chance to slip away.
Attire: He wears the Remnant version of the Jedi Adventure robes. (SW: Force Unleashed 1). He also sport the Modified Armor ( ACGearmaker-Deviantart)
Style: When wielding Ferrum Tempestas: Sith Shien (Starkiller's Stance) When wielding Furor Impius Tempestas and Messor Tempestas: Taki's Stance. When Unarmed: Practitioner in multiple styles similar to such as Muay Thai, Boxing, Krav Maga, Shurikenjutsu, Tae Kwon Do, Savate, Professional Wrestling, Wushu, Judo, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, (Note: Just to clarify, he knows and practices moves from the styles, does not mean he's a master.)
Alludes to: Starkiller/Taki/Steve Rogers (Star Wars, Marvel and Soul Calibur.)
Chapter 1: Hey Brother.
Jaune sat near the statue, downtrodden.
It's been 4 months since he showed up to Beacon and now he faced a dilemma. Ever since he revealed his transcript to Pyrrha, his whole world turned upside down. His partner looked at him with disappointment while Nora and Ren kept their distance. Three days into the revelation, RWBY was notified and their reactions was shocking.
While Ruby tried to maintain her friendship with the Knight, Weiss coldly brushed him off, calling him fraud and worthless to her eyes. Blake would simply stare at him with a disgusted look, but it was Yang who was the most physical. She charge him and laid down a beat down so violent, the entire academy felt the tremors as each of her fists came down on Jaune.
Soon everyone knew and within two weeks he was alone. No teacher would help him. No student would sit by him. No friends, no help, no support. Now he stay up on the patio where he confessed to Pyrrha. After all, no one would dare come up there anyway.
Jaune had just finished his homework and checked the temperature. 34 degrees tonight. Another cold night. Sighing in defeat, he lowered his head into his hands. Why did he come here.
"Still feeling sorry for yourself?"
Jaune looked up and turned, his eyes widening. "Talon"
There behind him stood the tall intimidating figure of his older brother. His white and blue armor, a more modified version of Jaune's glimmered in the sunset, his white robes swaying in the wind. Unlike Jaune's baby blue eyes, Talon's was a cold ice blue, His sword and two short blades laid in their sheaths, ready to be quickly wielded when the need arises. Despite being the same height, Talon was built like a superhero where as Jaune barely had any muscle definition showing. His arms crossed and his ever present stony face looking down on his little brother with a new feature, a frown.
Jaune stared at his brother before sucking up what courage he had and stood up to face him. "What are you doing here?"
Talon glared at his little brother. "A little bird told me about your situation Jaune. I am here to bring you home. Mom's orders."
Jaune immediately shook his head. "N-n-no! I won't go back. I can't."
Talon looked surprised by Jaune's refusal. "Oh, and why not?"
"I just can't Tal. I have to see this through." Jaune replied. Talon stared at his brother before rolling his eyes. "Jaune, you are disgraced by the school. You're living outside in the cold. This does not look like you have everything in hand,"
Jaune scoffed at his brother. "And what would you have me do? Sit back home, collecting scrap metal in my little red wagon?"
"Anything to keep you alive, yes." Talon said, his voice getting a bit louder. Jaune felt a bit of anger rise in him. "Talon, come on, Being a Huntsman was all I ever want to be. Now I have the chance, and you of all people want me to pull the plug?"
Talon growled. "This thing is bigger than you, Jaune. Now I have always supported you, I have always watched your back. Because I was hoping that this was just a phase. That you would grow up, you would mature a bit."
Jaune looked stunned. Even Talon felt that he had no chance in being a Huntsman. But the lashing was over as Talon continued. "Now look at yourself. 30 lien to you name? No team! No dorm! No way in hell you'd see graduation. And you'd still wanna play hero."
Jaune was silent. Talon was right. He had literally nothing driving him on to remain a huntsman in training. He could leave and never come back. He could join the militia or become a hunter, a new chance at life.
'Would it be?' a thought responded. Jaune immediately stopped thinking of the pros of leaving. As he searched his true reason on why he wanted to stay, it dawned on him. Taking a deep breath he looked straight into Talon's eyes and gave his response.
"I can't Talon. If I go home now then this is all I'll ever see. A failure. A boy who dreams but will never accomplish. I can't be a farmer and look in the eyes of my town without thinking I could be so much more. I committed myself to this path. I made it my choice to walk this road. And with or without the support of my family, I will walk it. I may die in my first skirmish, But at least I went out doing what I dreamed of doing."
Talon stared at his brother before looking away for a moment. Jaune felt a few tears fall down as his brother said nothing. However, after a while he heard his brother release a deep breath before he raised his head slightly to resume his look at Jaune. "Still got Crocea Mors?"
Jaune cocked an eyebrow confused. "Uh, yeah. I still do."
"Good."Talon nodded and pulled out Ferrum Tempestas. "Listen, Jaune. I am not going to fight you on this. Gods know you are more stubborn than a bitch on her period. That being said. I am going to help you out."
Jaune smiled as Talon placed his sword in front of him. "First things first: We need to layer in your foundation. I want you to copy everything I do and listen to everything I say. You may not have the school to help you, but I'll do what I can. Solid?"
Jaune stared at his brother. "Y-yeah, Big bro, I got you. T-thank you."
Talon shook his head. "Thank me when you kick your team's ass to oblivion. Now let's get to work."
3 weeks later.
It has been three weeks since Talon started to train his brother, and it wasn't without notice. Students around the school would gather and watch as the older Arc taught the younger knight how to move, attack, and defend simultaneously. Pyrrha and her boyfriend Cardin would take notes on the style, noticing how Jaune was adapting quickly to the training.
And it wasn't just sword fighting. Talon began teaching Jaune on hand to hand combat. Learning how to properly throw a punch was one of the hardest sessions Jaune had ever attempted. However what was really strange was that no one saw Talon and Jaune as brothers. They assumed it was a wandering Huntsman taking pity on the fraud. And that brought alongside problems.
NPR approached Talon one day and asked if he could train with them. They were surprised when he said no. Multiple times, Pyrrha would try and ask the older Arc to spar with her only to end up with the same refusal. Cardin took it a step further and tried to initiate a spar by simply attacking the Arc. The result was a huge crack in the wall and a hospitalized Cardin Winchester with a shattered back and leg.
Then there was Team RWBY. Three weeks in and they were once again looking at the window watching the two. Yang being the outspoken of the four, licked her lips at Talon's masculinity.
"Ok. I have to know who the hunk is" Yang purred impatiently.
"Whoever he is, why is he always training that failure." Weiss narrowed her eyes. Of all the people, why couldn't be her, or her team.
Ruby watched as her team studied the boys before she made a decision. "Well, we're not going to get our answers here. Lets wait till Jaune leaves, then we'll ask."
Talon push Jaune back and twirled his sword to go for a clean under sweep. Jaune twisted his body to the side, allowing the sword to slice the nearby air where he once stood, before he raised his right arm and elbows Talon to give him space. The older Arc stumbled back, surprised but smiles and gets into a horseman stance. Jaune doesn't hesitate and charges in, resulting in a flurry of motions with the sword. Talon retreats, allowing Jaune to dictate the pace, while Jaune tries to force Talon back into the fountain where the Huntsman statue stood.
Seeking to end it quickly, Jaune increases his speed, but Talon pulls a quick reversal on his little brother, ducking under Crocea Mors and stepping to the side of Jaune. The younger Arc was ready however and before Talon saw it. Jaune sent him flying with a push kick. Talon hit the ground hard but jumped right back up onto his feet to see Jaune close the distance with him. The spar continued as Jaune advanced while Talon continued to give ground.
However while Jaune gained ground, He wasn't gaining the advantage with Talon. His brother was a seasoned veteran and a master with the longsword. This fight was more or less Talon toying with Jaune.
Frustrated with this revelation, Jaune reached out with his free hand to grab at Talon's throat but the older Arc anticipated the move. Dodging the grab, Talon twirls behind Jaune and disengages as Jaune trips on his feet and falls into the fountain. The older Arc sheathed his sword and holds a hand out to Jaune as the younger brother thrashed around in the water. "Good fight, Bro. Especially that kick. I wasn't expecting that."
Jaune stared at his brother's hand before a smile etched on his face and he took the hand, allowing Talon to haul him to his feet. "Everything I know, I learn from you."
"Oh if only that was true." Talon jokes. Jaune chuckled before looking at himself, Soaked to the core, He mentally made a note to visit the laundry mat in Vale, but his stomach growling made him reconsider is priorities. Turning to Talon, he cocked his head toward the Cafeteria. "Well, I am going to grab a bite to eat. Want anything."
Talon smirked. "Sure, One Hot dog and a large coke."
Jaune smiled and walked off. Talon took a deep breath and stared up at the Statue. The sword held by the Huntsman looked a lot like Crocea Mors, but he knew his grandfather made it very clear for the academies not to create statues in the form of the Arcs. Unfortunately, Ozpin was never one to listen to others if their image meant bringing hope to the world. The man was always dislike by the Arcs, but he managed to charm Jaune. Talon had to figure out how to unsnarl his interests in siding with the headmaster before it was too late.
Talon turned to walk back to the docks when a blonde girl stood in front of him. Her stance showed a confident, almost cocky attitude as if she knew what she wanted and how to get it. The girl smirked. "Hey-o, handsome"
Talon put on a professional face. "Ma'am"
The blonde smiled as three more people approached. A young girl in a Gothic like dress, Another in a elegant white and light blue combat skirt, and a girl with a bow on her head in a black and white outfit. The blonde didn't acknowledge the group as she spoke again, "Yang Xiao Long, This is my little sister Ruby, My partner Blake, and our residential Ice Queen, Weiss."
"Hey"
The older Arc nodded his head a the team. "Talon"
Yang tilted her head in confusion. "No last name?"
"Don't see a reason to give it." Talon replied, deciding to set a limit on how much information he was going to give out.
"Oooh Mysterious. Are you sure you want to play this game, Lover Boy." Yang smirked mischievously. Now Talon was confused. Lover Boy? Is this girl hitting on him? Now setting up a red flag on the girl, Talon replied. "I don't see how this is a game."
Weiss, probably having enough of Yang's flirting, pushed her to the side, and got in Talon's face. "Well, allow me to ask the elephant in the room. I assume you are a huntsman, correct?"
Talon maintained his professional expression as he answered. "I am afraid not ma'am. I help out with my dad's company of knights protecting the lower settlements from the Grimm."
Weiss's eyes widened as did the rest of the team."You're a Crusader"
"That's correct." Talon nodded. He expect them to start asking why a Crusader was at Beacon, but he was not expecting Ruby to zoom in front of him. "Mr Talon, Can I see your weapons? How many missions have you done? Is your sword able to transform? What about the kodachi?"
Talon raised his hands in front of him. "Ruby, I am afraid that my weapons are not hybrids. They are just that. Swords. Weapons designed for a single purpose and that is to engage and eliminate the enemy in front of me."
Ruby began to pout and was about to say something else when Weiss got in front of her. "Well, I for one am honored to be in the presence of someone with that type of skill set. Are you here on orders from the Headmaster?"
Talon shook his head. "No Ma'am, I am here for a personal reason."
"May I ask what reason that is?" Weiss asked a bit too eagerly. Talon mentally took a deep breath. What if this was a team that despised Jaune. He had to get out of this conversation quick. Luckily, his savior approached but not the one he wanted. "A reason that is for The headmaster and myself, Ms Schnee. Now run along to class"
Glynda Goodwitch walked up staring at the back of Talon's head as Weiss saw she meant business. Bowing slightly to Talon, she and her team walked away. Talon mentally prepared himself for the rebuking he was going to get from the headmistress. "So the bitch of a witch reveals herself"
Glynda growled. "What are you doing here, Talon? Admission for Huntsman are not for another 8 months."
Talon scoffed."And why would I become one of you, Glynda, Being on the front lines is so much more fun than conning the people out of protection money."
Glynda brandished her crop, causing Talon to place a hand on Ferrum Tempestas. "I won't ask again. Why are you here?"
Talon glared at the headmistress, his hand remaining on his sword as he gave his answer. "It's really none of your business, but to give you a hint: It's personal."
Glynda's eyes widened for a moment before they soften and lowered her crop. "It's about Jaune isn't it."
Talon nodded, removing his hand from his sword. "Family has always been important to me, Glynda. And unlike you, I don't abandon them when they make a mistake."
Glynda flinched at the jab, but cleared her throat. "I'll drop this for now, But Professor Ozpin has requested that you come up to meet him later today."
The two remained where they stood, even as Jaune walked up and watched the two stand off in a staring contest. Glynda knew if she fought Talon, chance were they would destroy Beacon well before the victor was decided. Unlike her, Talon never put a limit on his matches. He gave his battles everything he had, preferring to overestimate his enemies then underestimate. Finally, without taking his eyes off her, Talon replied.
"I will be there."
Glynda ripped her gaze off the older Arc before staring at Jaune. Her heart broke as the boy stared at her confused. She held not disdain for the boy, but he didn't belong here. Talon on the other hand could. However this was not the time to think of such things. Tearing her gaze away, the headmistress picked up her pace to get away from the Arcs.
Jaune slowly walked to his brother while watching the Ms Goodwitch walk away and didn't break his gaze even as he handed the food to Talon. The two watched as the lady disappeared into the academy before speaking. "Drama?"
Talon didn't even look at his brother. "Drama."
Well, This was on my computer for a while and after writing Talon Arc one-shot, I thought: What if I reorganize this story and publish it. Most OCs I have seen are usually guys who can destroy anything in their path and can beat RWBY, JNPR, STRQ and even CMEN (Cinder's group) with ease. Talon is powerful, but he's not a Gary Sue. He is prone to make mistakes and I do have a couple stories where he has almost lost to Cinder and Raven though now with the Raven/Cinder fight, I may have to rewrite it.
Yes, Talon is alluded from three fictional characters but I like it that way. He wields three swords. One longsword and two short swords. He can be a ninja/shin-obi, or he can go nuts like a knight. And if by the sheer chance, he is unable to perform any type of swordplay, he is adept in moves similar to multiple styles as shown above. he's not a master, but he knows enough to make even Mercury or Yang think twice before going toe to toe with him.
Talon's back story is written but I have been rewriting if for a while, However he has been on my computer for about 2 years.
There is another chapter coming up, but I have no idea if I want to make this a full story. I am leaning toward putting Talon out there so other writers can use him and expand his OCness lol. kinda a long shot but nothing ventured is nothing gained.
Hope you enjoyed.
