THE DESCENDANTS OF THE RACES OF MIDDLE-EARTH

The events related in 'The Lord of the Rings' took place 8,000 years ago according to Tolkien. Here, I have provided an explanation of the main events that took place between then and around1000 BC, the date I have chosen for Tolkien's history to merge with our own. And no, I do not own the rights to 'The Lord of the Rings' or 'The Silmarillion' as you may have guessed.

Around 1500 years into the fourth age an ice age began as well as the shifting of many continental plates covering all the lands north of the Gwathlo with an ice sheet making Eriador virtually inhospitable. This led to the downfall of the northern provinces of the Dunedain kingdom and the shifting of central power from Annuminas to Osgiliath. Around this time, the people of Dunland began to spread throughout Enedwaith and through the weakening realm of Rohan as Far East as the great river. In response to the rise of the Dunlandic peoples, the Gondorian king Elessar VII began invading Gondorian lands home to Dunlandic peoples, among them the forest of Anorien. At the same time, the ice men of Forochel began to migrate to the south and east into the Orocarni mountains while the Halflings began to migrate south, eventually settling in the Gondorian province of Andrast where they dwelt for many ages, mixing with the men of that area so that they themselves soon began to more closely resemble men.

During the next 1500 years, the Dunlandic people moved eastward causing the Northmen of Rhovanion to migrate far into the east. Eventually the Northmen became the Uralic people and dwelt to the west of the Oracarni Mountains, still to this day known as the Urals while the Forodwaith became known as the Samoyeds. But the Dunlandic peoples now became several different races as they spread throughout Eriador and Rhovanion, for the ice age was ending and the continent of Europe was now almost formed. The northern most of these races were the Germanic peoples, while those that dwelt in the lands that were once the Shire and Minhiriath became the Celts and those that spread up the river Anduin as far as the carrock became the Baltic and Slavonic peoples and those that dwelt in the lands that were once part of western Gondor became known as the Latin people, but still, the Dunlandic peoples raided the kingdom of Gondor, and by 2500BC, the Dunedain only dwelt near Dol Amroth, or the region today known as the Balkans. Some Dunlandic people there were that now ventured further into the east and they are today known as the Iranians and the Aryans, and so it was that the Dunlandic peoples came to be known as the Indo- Europeans, and spread through all the lands in Europe except for where the Uralic peoples dwelt, the Huns as some call them, part of Andrast, or Iberia as it is known today where the Halflings dwelt and are now called the Basques and the Balkans where the Dunedain dwelt. In 900BC, the last remnants of the Dunedain migrated south and became the Greeks, and it is said that Athens was built on the spot where once was Umbar.
