What have I done? Eddie had only wanted to free the trapped souls from the sarcophagi. Yet despite this noble intention, he had unwittingly helped Team Evil complete the final step of the ritual.

He had been so sure that he had done the right thing, that everyone would get their souls back. But his vision had betrayed him. He briefly wondered if temporarily being trapped in one of the sarcophagi somehow messed with his mind.

I've let everyone down.

His friends.

His girlfriend.

His father.

Nina.

His breath hitched at the thought of Nina. She had been the one to convince him to come back to Anubis, to continue pursuing the mystery. She had also been the original leader of the Sibunas, a responsibility he wasn't sure he could handle. He couldn't help but think that she'd never let the situation get this bad. She would've never let Fabian, Patricia, and Alfie become Sinners.

If Nina were here, she might've questioned his ability as an effective leader. If she were here, she would've never been fooled by Frobisher. If she were here, she'd be thinking of a way to get them out of this mess.

But she wasn't here. Eddie was.

He wasn't alone though. KT and Harriet were still in the gatehouse with him, and right now they were his only allies. But how were the three of them supposed to prevent Frobisher and his Sinners from unleashing Ammut unto the world?

He was also concerned that their safety would be threatened if they continued to stay at the school. KT had mentioned once that she had an aunt who lived nearby in Linton. Maybe he could convince them to stay there for the time being, because he didn't think he'd be able to live with the additional guilt of losing them too.

If KT had been able to read his mind, she'd be fighting tooth and nail over that decision. She'd remind him that this was her mission, that they were gonna stop her great-grandfather together. And he wouldn't be able to disagree, because he knew she'd be right.

No, what he needed to do was come up with a plan C. But at the moment, he didn't know what that would be.
