A very old Samwise Gamgee is sitting in his rocking chair beside the fire. His twenty some odd grandchildren are sated around him at his feet, waiting for him to tell the story of how the famous and brave Frodo Baggins destroyed the ring. After he finishes the story, they beg him to tell how he felt the day Frodo left for the Undying Lands. Sam nods and he can see himself as a youngster, standing on the shore with Pippin and Merry watching Frodo sail off on that ship, as he begins to sing a song that tells the entire story.

Listen little child, there will come a day

When you will be able, able to say

Never mind the pain, or the aggravation

You know there's a better way, for you and me to be

Look for a rainbow in every storm

Fly like an angel, heaven sent to me

Goodbye my friend (I know you're gone But I can still feel you here)

It's not the end (gotta keep it strong before the pain turns into fear)

So glad we made it, time will never change it - no no no

Just a little boy, big imagination

Never letting no-one take it away

Went into the world, what a revelation

He found there's a better way for you and me to be

Look for a rainbow in every storm

Find out for certain, love's gonna be there for you

You'll always be someone's baby

Goodbye my friend (I know you're gone but I can still feel you here)

It's not the end (gotta keep it strong before the pain turns into fear)

The times when we would play about

The way we used to scream and shout

We never dreamt you'd go your own sweet way

Look for a rainbow in every storm

Find out for certain love's gonna be there for you

You'll always be someone's baby

Goodbye my friend (I know you're gone but I can still feel you here)

It's not the end (gotta keep it strong before the pain turns into fear)

Sam took a deep breath when he finished. He could still feel the tears on his cheeks, the same ones that were there the last time he saw his best friend. He was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't hear the gasp that spread through out the room.

"Poppa! Look!"

His daughter, Rose was shaking his arm. He looked up and standing in the door way was Frodo. His friend hadn't aged a bit. His hair was still dark brown, his skin smooth, and his eyes ocean blue.

"Frodo? Can it be?" Sam asked.

"Aye, Sam, tis me. In the flesh."

The two friends hugged and Sam felt like he was young again, and he knew that all the years of searching for the rainbow had paid off.

A/N~ This is a song by the Spice Girls. I heard it on the radio the other day and this whole story just popped into my head. Review and tell me what you thought!
