...
Time.
Time reigns over mankind.
Beauty, wealth, luxury...it all wasted away; devoured, perished, against this invincible foe.
Knowledge, experience, and wisdom is lost amongst the earth and tombstones.
Death and time go hand in hand, one never appears without its accomplice.
Death was inevitable for all of humanity.
Perhaps this was one of its distinctive traits, what made them human.
Time, after all, made life precious. Worthwhile.
Beings that thrived on emotions could only survive so long, for a heart is a heavy burden.
An eternity of passions and strife, of minutes and hours and seconds would be torture, tedious.
After all, there was a reason why the monsters that wandered the earth were void of feeling. Void of a soul.
And so, death was inescapable, fixed -holding dominion over all men...
All but some.
