The wooden porch creaks as my boots tread across it. These misty mornings are one of my favorite things about this place. There is a stillness here I can't get in the city. Even the animals are relatively peaceful this morning. Goosebumps slowly creep up my arms as my forearms settle into the damp wood railing. Even though it makes me shiver. I relish the feeling. The creak of the wooden floor signals another joining me.

A warm arm wraps around my torso giving me a morning welcome in the form of a cup of coffee. "Your cup my lady."

"Why thank you, my good woman." I place a thankful kiss on Gail's cheek before I turn my attention back to the woods. She places her cup on the railing before wrapping her arms around my waist. I lean into the contact trying to get as close to her welcomed heat as possible. Gail rests her chin onto my shoulder to look out at the woods.

"You love it out here don't you?"

"Yes I do. It's peaceful. I can escape from humans for a little while."

"Yeah that part has been quite nice."

I turn around in Gail's arms to catch my first glimpse of her this morning. I love her in the mornings. She has this sleepy tenderness to her. That tenderness gets hidden away as soon as she sets out for work. Then if it slips out of hiding it is wrapped in a whole lot of snark. That is why I treasure mornings so much. I get to see it, no one else. I tilt my head slightly, smiling happily. "But most importantly, I get you to myself. No interruptions."

"Yeah that has been a very important part." She smiles into our kiss. "It's just us. No outside pressures, no work, NO FAMILY. Simply you and me." Gail leans in and whispers into my ear. "Except now we have some unexpected company. Look."

I raise an eyebrow and turn to see what she is talking about. A doe and her fawn step hesitantly out from the trees. They gracefully make their way into the clearing. She tightens her hold on me and rests her head back on my shoulder. "Today is going to be a good day."

"Yes. Yes it is."
