It was over. The game was over as the winning team cheered in victory and the losing team let out quiet sobs of defeat. One of the winners of the winning team saw Gumi walk away from the crowd with her metal bat over her shoulder.
The sounds of cheering grew faint in Gumi's ears who continued to leave the field with a smirk covering her face and eyes closed.
"Wait!" That made Gumi turn open them and turn to see the first baseman (or woman) standing a couple feet behind the green-haired woman. "Where are you going?"
All Gumi did was turn her head towards the empty field. "My time's up here. You guys don't need me anymore."
"Yes, we do. We need you. You're our coach. You're the best pinch runner out there. You're the... Panda Hero."
Gumi had her back still towards the first basewoman who put down her bat with a soft thud and took off her goggles. "Not anymore." She threw the goggles at the you team member who caught it and looked at the pair in awe. "I taught you everything I know. And now... You're the new Panda Hero."
The basemen was about to say something when she saw Gumi was gone. The rookie ran further in the field, calling Gumi's name out, but it was no good. The rookie looked back down at the black and pink goggled in her dirt-covered hands. She remained silent, not moving from where she stood for what seemed like an eternity who nodded at Gumi's words.
"...I understand." She them puts the goggles over her dark brown and red hair and runs back to her Calvert Team with a smile on her face.
"I promise I won't let you down... Panda Hero."
A/N: This is my first Gumi fic involving my team in Calvert C. Special Olympics. The idea just came to me and I just had to write it down before the idea left my mind. Plus, I think the song meant the there's always a Most Valuable Player in every team no matter what it is.
The team's last man/woman standing against the odds. Their defender of justice to help them save the day when others need that person. Their Panda Hero!
R and R!
Later!
