Super short, but this is what I think it'll be like. Mostly, at least. I know for sure that she'll talk to him from the new promo. I paused it when she ran in, and saw him. I freaked, and did this in about 10 minutes. I just needed to write out my thoughts. Thanks for reading, Loves.
Bye,
Caro.
The shoes held in her hand nearly fell from her grip when she saw him. His mouth was agape the slightest, and his eyes were glossed over with the tears that he wouldn't release.
"Hi." Clare said. The man's eyes shot to her in shock. She actually showed.
"Hi," he responded with a deep sigh, "he um, he'll be okay."
It was time for her to tell the truth, "No he won't. I knew this would happen. He was an emotional rollercoaster ready to crash, and I ended it anyway." Clare's eyes found the open hospital door. She could see the end of a white sheeted bed, a body thrown lazily on it.
"We all knew he was messed, Clarabell." Bullfrog murmured out. Clare's expression relaxed to the familiar name, but immediately tightened into pain when she heard a sob.
"Yes, but I was the one holding him together. I was the glue, and I ruined it." Another sob echoed from the open room. Bullfrog suddenly turned to the distraught girl.
"No," he cleared his throat, "you didn't ruin it. We told him that he couldn't rely on you forever. All he could ever say was that he loved you." His right arm wrapped around her shoulders just as a tear fell off his nose.
"I love him. I just- he scares me."
"He scares all of us."
A silence overtook the two, and the cries across the hall mimicked them. Clare looked up, still wrapped in her ex-boyfriend's dad's arms.
"But that's just it. Why do I get to run away if he scares everyone else in his life? Why do I get the choice to leave while everyone else has to hold him down?" Now Clare was crying, too. Her hand came up to wipe the tears, and found her makeup receding along with her hand.
"Because you're a baby. Eli shouldn't have to rely on his girlfriend to keep him stable." She shivered in his touch when she heard his voice.
"Mom," it rang out weakly, "what am I supposed to do?"
"I don't know, baby boy." CeCe's voice whispered. Clare craned her neck to hear any other movements.
"I love him." Clare nearly promised. She picked her eyes up to Bullfrog again, and he smiled.
"Then leave. Let him get better alone. Come back later. Come back in months. Come back-"
"When he's better." Clare finished silently before pulling from the man's gentle grasp.
"Yes. Go. Don't let him know you're here. He'll just beg you to take him back. To stay." He turned from her as a signal that she should leave.
"Bye, Bullfrog." She whispered.
"Bye, Clarabell. We'll miss you. You were the best thing that ever happened to Eli."
Clare turned as angry tears fell from her eyes. She ran through the doors, never turning back.
"Happened to us." Bullfrog finished, but Clare couldn't hear him. She was too far off.
Yeah, that was lame. But I think they need a moment like this.
Yeah,
Bye, Loves. (again)
Caro.
