The Cowards' Resignation

He had done it. Finally, after many long and grueling days he, Link of Hyrule, had collected the sacred items which were strewn across the kingdom. He walked briskly towards the Castle which was engulfed in Ganondorf's wickedness. There he knew that countless foes awaited him. On his way, he passed the army of cowardly Hylian soldiers; the very ones who ran at the sight of the now all-too-familiar beasts that had invaded the land to which they had sworn their lives. He softly vowed under his breath that he would teach them courage. As Link fearlessly swung the large doors open, the soldiers shuddered in foolish fear. "What is he doing? Going in there all alone?" one exclaimed, "He has not even one ally!" "He's going to get himself killed!" The others grunted in agreement. He was obviously crazy.

Many loud bangs and roars could be heard all throughout Castle Town. There was a single screech and a blinding light, then an unexpected explosion. Without any sort of notice, Link, Princess Zelda, Ganondorf, and the group of cowardly soldiers were warped onto the green grass of Hyrule Field. While the Triforce-wielders continued the battle, the soldiers; who had flocked to the scene, now trembled with terror. They were virtually glued to the sturdy stone pillars of the Elden Bridge. And after what seemed to be an eternity, their undeserving eyes widened in fear and revelation as Link's sword pierced Ganondorf's breast. The battle for the future was over.

Hand-in-hand, Link and Zelda walked back to the ruins of Hyrule Castle. On their way, Link cocked his head slightly, so that it was aligned with the gazes of the awe-struck soldiers, and smiled slightly. "That display will surely teach them courage." He thought to himself. After both the crazy man and their princess had vanished into the horizon, each soldier disarmed himself and cast his armor aside. "With Link here to protect the residents, there is no need for our service" they convinced themselves as they ran fearfully back to Castle Town. They didn't want to be out too late, for the monsters would be out soon.
