The Guardian
A/N: I wrote this story for someone that has always been there for me. And I wanted to share it.
I had never seen anything so beautiful. His wings were white as snow. How could I not have seen them before? Just like that they were gone. He turned back around and looked at me. "Now you know who I am and why I'm here." He said. His eyes were like oceans. They were so blue and deep and loving. "I know why you're here?" I asked. "I'm here to protect and guide you." Chris always seemed so special. I knew he was destined for greatness.
"The Creator wanted me to watch over you, but instead I fell in love with you." He said softly. "I thought angels weren't allowed to love?" I asked him. Chris turned toward the color stained glass window of the church. "Love is probably one of the strongest weapons we have, we just can't fall in love with our charges, but I did Kyrstyn. I did. And I'm glad because I see the good in you. I see how pure your soul is."
I wanted to cry right there in the church knowing that a guardian angel loved me for who I was. And what was better was that he was mine. "Just worries me that you'll get into trouble." I told him. He turned away and those blue eyes looked into mine. "I've been wanting to become human ever since I met you. See, angels are immortal. We don't die or age. We just are." I saw the sadness in his eyes. I did age and die. It wouldn't matter in the end because eventually I would get old and sick and he would still be the same. "I want them to find me so they can clip my wings and make me human." He said. "But then I won't have a guardian angel." I told him. "They'll assign another to you."
"But I don't deserve a guardian angel. I've done nothing special." I said. And that was true. In the beginning Chris was hard to open up. He had trouble opening up and talking to me. That made me fear that maybe I wasn't worth loving. Now that I knew he was an angel why did he waste his time with me? He was a heavenly being who had a great gift and he wanted to be with me.
"I'm sorry I just don't believe I'm worthy of your love. I'm a human who's made mistakes. You're perfect and right. Why would you love me?" I asked as tears ran down my face. Chris pulled her in and embraced her with his arms. "How could I not love you? You're a human who is allowed to make mistakes and learn from them. Those are the reasons I love you is because of your humanity and how you feel for other people." Then he looked down at me and his lips were very close. "What are you doing?" I asked in a hushed voice. "Something human." And his lips gently pressed against mine. They were so soft like clouds. Then everything went white.
When I opened my eyes Chris was smiling at me. "What was that?" I asked. "The Creator. He made me human." I was surprised to hear that. "God? He does things like that?" I asked. "God hears prayers in some form or another. He may not answer in the way you want, but he hears all." Chris said. I believed in God strongly. I had never been so happy that He answered my prayer. Bad things happened in the world that He made, and I'm sure that God hurt because of it, but that's the way that life was. "Hmm. So where were we?" I asked. "I think I remember." And he leaned down for a kiss and it felt just like heaven.
Dedicated to my heavenly angel Chris.
