So, Anna and I were playing a crazy game of online truth or dare and she dared me to write a story about the craziest couple I could think of, but it had to make sense.
If you love something-
Mason turned to her furiously.
"But I love YOU damn it! You know things between Alex and I have been drifting apart for a long time now."
Harper shook her head, tears threatening to spill.
"She is my BEST friend Mason. There can't be anything between us, because she still loves you and I wouldn't let you break her heart. She's been through too much. She deserves to be happy."
Mason looked at her angrily. How could she give up so easily? Did he mean anything to her?
"So you're just going to let me go through with this?" he asked.
They had become so close ever since Alex had gone off to school. Mason and Harper had stayed in New York. Things had ended between Harper and Zeke, leaving Mason to comfort her. It was Harper's first broken heart.
Everything seemed to be okay until Alex and Justin returned for the summer. Harper had changed, her heartbreak making her grow as a person. Justin had seen this and soon enough pursued her. Alex wanted to spend all her time with Mason, who couldn't help but feel jealous as he saw Harper and Justin together. He could not ignore his feelings which caused him to pick fights with Alex and turn in to a wolf more than usual, especially whenever he saw Justin.
Mason had stupidly kissed Harper and the ill-fated affair had started. Now they were in a complete wreck.
A tear slipped down Harper's face. That single speck of water let Mason know that Harper did in fact care. What he didn't realize was that she cared too much, which was why she was letting him go.
"I want you to do this." she said softly.
He knew he couldn't break down her resolve.
"Fine."

Mason watched Alex walk down the aisle. He vaguely registered that she looked beautiful. He tried not to stare at Harper, who was the Maid of Honor, or at Justin who was gazing at Harper. He didn't even look at Max, who was the one to see him and Harper grow close and despite being slow had picked up on a few things.
"I do." Mason echoed the priest's words.
Then he leaned in to kiss her, trying not to picture Harper in Alex's place. Trying not to picture Justin kissing Harper. Trying not to picture the future he had now sealed without her with him, but still having to see her as Alex's best friend and most likely Alex's sister-in-law someday.
Trying just to find the strength to let her go.
-Set it free.
So, whatcha guys think? I personally love Alex and Mason together, but I actually really enjoyed writing this quick liyyle one shot.
