Cowardly? This girl more guts than he did. More brains, too. Maybe that's why she appeared so weak. She's the one that asked him on this damn date anyway..
Rin's eyes scanned the area. Everything was in place. He felt a little weird, being the only one out in the garden, but she'd like the surprise, right? It took a while to set up the flowers oh-so-perfectly, and she would appreciate the various delicacies he had prepared. She wasn't rude, she'd adore this..
He stood and dusted off his pants. He had made sure to actually wear something decent today, and, considering how nicely the picnic was set out, he had to look up to par. He walked to the gate and waited for her to arrive. "Stay at the garden at noon, Rin," She had said, "I'll be ready by then!"
Rin took a breath. He had been frantically checking his watch ever since he stood at the gate, counting down the minutes as if that would make them pass quicker. 11:57, 11:58. 11:59..
12:00.
Just as she had promised, Rin was seeing her hair swish around her face as she walked the familiar path to the garden.
Damn, was she punctual.
He smiled warmly and waved, any feeling of uneasiness gone. Her shoes were scuffed and her clothes a tad bit wrinkled, but Rin was focusing more on the light, cheerful smile on her round face more than anything. Shiemi laced her fingers around his, her usual red blush never appearing. Maybe she really was in love with him..
"Thanks for today, Rin," Shiemi's smile transformed into an affectionate one, which he tenderly returned, "It's no problem. It's fun being alone with you."
Suddenly, her usual blush did appear. She wasn't sure what he meant by 'alone', but she could only think of the worst possible scenario.
-Well,- Shiemi thought, following Rin into the heart of the garden, -I guess it wouldn't be too bad.-
