Summary:
In the other universes, things were different while being so very much the same.

In another universe, the boy was a girl, and the pharaoh was a queen.

In another universe, the boy won, but the gods intervened and let the pharaoh stay.

In another universe, the boy was the pharaoh, and the pharaoh was the boy.

Yet in every universe, the boy and the pharaoh always met. In every universe, an inseparable bond would form between them, be it one of friendship or love. In every universe, the boy would always be the shining light of hope for the pharaoh, ensuring victory as long as their partnership remained unbroken, and the pharaoh would always be the protector and nurturer for the boy, ensuring the boy would find his inner strength and reach his full potential.

So why was it, then, in the prime universe, that the partnership broke, and the pharaoh left for the after life? Why was it, then, their feelings of mutual affection never spoken of? Why was it, then, they both regret so much not saying so when they had the chance?

In the other universes, they had. And in those other universes, they stayed together, their partnership allowing them to overcome anything that dared to stop them.

In the prime universe, on opposite sides of death's door, two souls gazed upon the moon, each wondering what could have been had they expressed what they each felt so deeply for the other so long ago.
