A/N: I'm not supposed to be writing. I have mountains worth of homework, but I'm sooooo tired of working. I wrote three poems and took two hours to get them all to line up. May post them later since they're "Singing to Your Twisted Melody"-centric. For now, Benlie fluff for y'all.
Disclaimer: I do not own anything.
Ironic
Julie hit the fluorescent green tennis ball up into the air. Her aim was to keep it in the air as long as she could while simultaneously talking with her boyfriend who was currently trying to cram for a chemistry test. "Ben?"
"One sec," he said, nibbling on the eraser his pencil offered for him. "I'm right in the middle of-"
"Do you find it ironic that your last name corresponds with my favorite sport?"
Ben figured he wasn't getting his work done anyways. Talking with Julie was much more entertaining. He liked his girlfriend more than he liked reading about whatever it was he was reading about. "What do you mean?"
The girl flipped her hair gently over one shoulder while sighing. The tennis ball kept hitting the face of the racket with a gentle pong! sound each time. "Well, I like tennis."
"What does that have to do with my last name?" asked the brunette boy as he stared into her gorgeous glittering brown eyes. He propped himself up with his hands so he could let all the tension drain from his muscles. Sitting hunched over was hard.
Julie remained perched on the edge of his bed. "Tennis. Tennyson." Her lips curled up into the tiniest smile. "Do you see the resemblance?"
Ben's face was an utter blank. His eyes were glazed over with confusion but a quirky smile played on his lips. "Uh-huh."
"You have no idea."
"Not the slightest."
Julie heaved a long sigh before sliding off her boyfriend's bed and onto the floor close to him. "Tennis. Tennyson."
"Ooooohhhh," said Ben, smacking his forehead and feeling like a complete moron. His beloved Asian always made him feel stupid, but for some reason, it made him love her more. He liked having someone take care of him that was capable of being competent.
"Yup," giggled the ebony-haired girl as she kept hitting the tennis ball into the air. It was simple really. The sport had grown on her. It was like her relationship with Ben. At first, she didn't know what to do. Over time, it grew into something she had come to love with all her heart. Not surprisingly, her heart was always torn between the Tennyson boy and tennis.
"Jules?"
Ben's voice racked her out of her thoughts. She shook her head gently. "Yeah?"
Ben ran one hand through his strands of silky brown hair. A somewhat guilty expression spread across his face. "I still don't get it..."
Instead of responding to his stupidity, Julie just leaned over to him, giving up on the challenge of trying to keep the tennis ball up in the air. Her soft lips met his and his fingers were automatically tangling up into her raven-colored locks; her fingers twined together behind his neck to pull him as close to her as he could possibly get.
She knew that if it really came down to it, Ben would always be the one she would choose.
A/N: I thought it was good. Wasn't as good as I would've liked… But reviews are welcomed!
