Determined Request

A one-shot by Tifa Tyndal

Summery: Tohru and Isuzu can accomplish anything when they put their minds to it, right?

Disclaimer: Why, oh why? Why must the cold hard truth be stated so plainly? So obviously for the world to see? …I don't own Fruits Basket

Spoiler Alert: Spoilers for… I'm sorry! I don't really remember the volume or chapter! The volume is up there though… in the teens at least. It's about Rin… and Tohru… and why they might work together… Okay! I hope you can determine from that if this would spoil you. And if anyone knows the chapter or book I would be very appreciative if you'd tell me.

Author's Note: Just a silly little whim… I had to write it out before it burned a hole in my brain. Sorry if it's too weird or boring for you….

Tohru Honda and Isuzu Sohma were the perfect pair. One, sweet and caring, the other, strong and dependable. Both determined.

Reaching for the same goal they worked together. And together, the pair could achieve anything. Isuzu's level-headedness mixed with Tohru's kind understanding resulted in the desired reaction—most of the time. It made sense in an odd sort of way. They were polar opposites.

While Tohru tried not to offend people Isuzu didn't care how they reacted to what she said or did. Where Tohru was timid Isuzu was bold. Where Isuzu was scarred Tohru was strong. They reacted completely differently to situations. Isuzu liked to run from her problems (no matter who she harmed in the process); Tohru liked to face them head-on if she could, as long as it didn't inconvenience anyone. Where one failed, the other won. Where one was weak, the other was strong. They were a perfect team.

Their first reactions to each other were less than favorable though. Tohru shied away at first while Isuzu, seeing Tohru as a problem, ran at first. But little by little they learned to tolerate each other, they learned to get along, to help each other. Tohru might not have understood Isuzu's strange love for Hatsuharu but she understood feeling utterly alone. Isuzu may not have gotten Tohru's constant kindness but she got the desperate desire for someone else's happiness. Somehow, they understood.

The shared a need for a desired end. The end. The end of suffering, the end of their problems. The only thing they disagreed on was how to achieve the desired end. The process would be hard, possibly impossible. But the end would be oh, so sweet. No matter what. They never agreed on a process yet opted for the spontaneous action, the unexpected ad-lib.

It was amazing really, how well two so different could work together.

Thus with all this development in Tohru Honda and Isuzu Sohma's relations it wasn't too surprising when they both burst into their creator's office to ask that they no longer be named after car companies.

Eheheh… how did you like it? If you didn't pick it up, their "desired end" was to cease sharing names with car companies (Isuzu and Honda)… Er, I hope you enjoyed it! –The Author
