Ilfrin Cala Núru
They were never born to die
To see the sun's last fading light
And though they flew their banner high
It was lost into the night
Their fate of calm was not to be
To take a ship to Valinor
Across the never rising sea
And live in peace for evermore
The world collides in bloodshot eyes
And skin grows dark with moonlit glow
For no one heed their battle cries
Of a tongue forged long ago
Such irony that they should fall
By the hand of distant kin
For Elves and Orcs were one in all
But Melkor's malice differed them
They fought with deathly Elven pride
With arrow, sword, and bow alike
And though the hold stretched far and wide
They were met with sharply pike
As rain fell there from starlit sky
They were ordered to the keep
And there they watched their captain die
The clouds shed tears they could not weep
Then dawn awoke upon the land
Grey had become eternal white
For Mithrandir rode out at hand
And Orcs would cower before his might
Victory had come at last
For the refugees of Edoras
The fighting now was all but past
Of lightning bolts and thunder clash
But hope had come too late in strife
Through hardened ground their blood did seep
They sacrificed immortal life
To save the people of Helms Deep
They were never born to die
To see the sun's last fading light
And though they flew their banner high
It was lost into the night
Their fate of calm was not to be
To take a ship to Valinor
Across the never rising sea
And live in peace for evermore
