Hagrid strode lightly to the window. The tile was cold on his bare feet, but he didn't mind it. He opened the window, and in flew his lover. Hedwig looked upon him with hungry eyes. Hagrid fetched a set of mugs and pulled a kettle from the fire, all while stealing glances at his snow white angel.
How he had braved the world without her for so long, he'd never really know. The way the sun danced on her feathers, the intuitive in her golden eyes, the slender curve of her talons, he loved every part of her. The greatest part of all was she returned the love he had for her. By some miracle, he thought, the universe brought them together.
Hagrid remembered when he first saw her. He had taken young Harry to Diagon Alley and while he was being fitted for his school robes, Hagrid had taken off to find Harry a birthday present. He had only just walked by the window of Eeylops Owl Emporium when a pair of golden eyes caught his attention. He was rooted where he stood and every fiber of his being pulled him to her.
This was merely the beginning.
