"WHY ARE YOU SNIFFING ME?"
April 23rd
7th Year
Gryffindor Common Room
Out of the corner of my eye, I see a figure leaning toward me, and hear an odd sniffing sound.
"What is it, James?" I hiss, covering my answers with my hands so he can't copy off of me. Again. Merlin help me. We're in the Common Room now, so instead of trying to copy off of my examinations, he's trying to copy my homework. Like that's so much better.
"Nothing, my dear Lily Petal," he smiles, and turns away, sniffing the air.
Okay then. I sneer at him, and turn away.
He's gotten a lot better since 1st year, but he still gets on my nerves occasionally.
Five minutes later I hear it again.
That infuriating sniffing.
"James," I whisper angrily, "Why are you sniffing me?"
"Because you smell good," he answers, taking me by surprise.
"W-what?" I stammer. This was an answer I was certainly not expecting.
He smiles. "Sort of like sugar cookies."
"Oh," I chuckle, "That's just my lip gloss."
I pull the tube out of the pocket of my robes and hold it up for him to see.
He gets a funny look in his eye that I'm not quite sure if I like. It makes me nervous, like he's trying to look deeper than my exterior. It's also the type of look a house-cat might get before pouncing on its prey.
"Can I have some?" he asks.
I snort. "Potter, lip gloss is to make one's lips look shiny, and it is makeup. For girls. What do you want it for?"
"To smell," he replies.
I stare at him blankly.
"Oh, and to taste."
"Right then. Must you waste my precious lip gloss on the needs of your taste buds and nostrils?
"Well, not necessarily."
"What?"
"The heart has needs too, Lily."
"Excuse me?" My pulse quickens. Just what does he mean by that?
Ever since he's matured, I've started to feel a sort of attraction toward him. Strange, I know.
"I can think of another way that won't waste your lip gloss."
"And what's that?" I ask faintly.
"This," he says simply, and kisses me.
I have got to ask mum to send more of this stuff.
