Abstruse - Hard to undertsand
Yong Soo had always been an airy child, away with the faries, or in his own world, most of the time, and saying things that only he ever understood. He had been like this since the minute Yao had met him, and hadn't changed much since.
To most, he might seem to wear his heart on his sleeve, and his emotions rather proudly, but years of watching, oh so carefully, and observing the strange Korean boy, meant, Yao knew different, and, he didn't have a clue. And it annoyed him, for he was a genius by anyone's standards, smart, and quick to figure everyone and everything out, but Yong Soo confused him, and played him the fool, with that smiling, flirty poker face, he always, always had up. It was infuriating, and made only worse, when those amber eyes seemed to see straight through him.
Hands slammed down against the hard wood of his desk, and the Chinese man groaned. Any moment now, the boy would come sauntering in, a childish, and yet, oh so tantalizing smile quirking those kissable lips. How dare he tease and taunt Yao without even realizing he did so. How dare he change himself yet always have the smile that made his head spin plastered across his groaned once more, dug sharp nails into the soft skin of his palms, and watched the clock tick along.
Yong Soo was late. Seconds turned into minutes, that passed, first two, then five, ten. An hour. Yao stood, as twelve past one rolled by, and left the all too cold and lonely office without a glance back. Taking long strides through the hallways, no he was not panicking, and he looked around for any sign of the small Korean teen. Yong Soo was his mystery, but, a mystery never just vanished.
The mask had long since fallen from the boys face, when he found Yong Soo, in the last place he looked, curled up on his own bed, with tears in his beautiful eyes. Wait. What? He shook himself from his thoughts, and blinked at the younger, who seemingly hadn't noticed him yet too busy nursing long scratches that had been clawed into pale skin.
What had happened?
"Yong Soo…?" The boy in question startled, almost falling from the bed, and he looked up at the elder, giggling weakly. Of course, he would always try to smile. Yao took a step closer, feeling a little relieved when he wasn't scuttled away from, and narrowed his eyes, trying to figure out what had happened. It was obvious he had been attacked, but how, why, who by? Questions whizzed through his mind, as he tried to figure out this new mystery.
It wasn't good. Being so broken like this didn't suit Yong Soo's face, or, perhaps it was just too strange to see him cry, for this was the first time it had happened, if he remembered correctly, and it made his stomach twist and turn.
"Hello Yao… I-I'm sorry, I was late… I got in a bit of trouble.." And now, Yao could clearly see what was so hidden before. Dark circles surrounded the smaller boys eyes, a deep contrast to his pale, all to pale, skin. What had happened to the happy child he knew? Or had he never been there at all? And as the boy burst into tears again, he wrapped him up in a soft embrace, and wondered if he would ever understand the younger, who, despite his gentle questioning, refused to ever open up.
"It's okay… shh"
