"What are you going to do?"
"I'm going to leave."
A beat. "You can't just leave me here!"
Another beat. "I don't love you."
That was five years ago. Five years ago he left me alone, scared and vulnerable. Five years ago he left me heartbroken. What is he doing here, anyway? I use to think that whenever it rained he would show up on my doorstep. That's why I love the rain so much. I didn't think about that today though.
He looked at me fiercely from the door with one hand leaning on its frame. I thought it was going to snap soon, in front of the whole class. I could hear some girls in the front row giggle and whisper to their friends. I wanted to jump at them. He is my man! Well, was my man.
He let go of the frame and went into his seat. It reminded me of the first time he walked into our first class together. I was in the middle row staring at him like he was Mac and Cheese, and he was staring at me like I was his prey.
I remember the time where we climbed the tree at the river court just to look at the river below. I remember worrying about Lucas coming and finding us – no one knew we were together. I then remember he kissed my worries away. His kisses. God, I miss his kisses.
"Miss James, aren't you going to let the new kid introduce himself?" A girl in the front row called out, followed by a fit of giggles. I looked at him. He was looking at me like the first time we saw eachother.
Oh God, I have to get out of here.
I ran out the door at full speed, my hand at my chest as if it was going to break. I didn't know where I was going and I didn't really care. I could hear footsteps behind me. They weren't his. It was the clicking of heels along the tiled floor at an extremely fast pace. I stopped. Alice.
"Haley."
I spun around. "I know I can't outrun you."
"I sa—"
"Yeah, I know. You saw what happened. You always see what happens." I tried not to raise my voice, but I bet she saw that too.
She sighed. "We're going to be staying here for a while."
"No, you're not." I ordered. "You can't. I have a husband. I have a son!"
"I know." She said.
"Does he?"
She looked down. "No, he doesn't."
"Can't he just take it out of your mind?"
"I wanted to keep it a secret. I never thought about it. I saw it when you two were saying goodbye... I knew he wouldn't want to know that. It would break him." She paused and took a step forward. I took a step back. "He loves you."
"If he loved me, he wouldn't of left."
"No, Haley!" She shouted. "If he didn't love you, he would have stayed."
"That worked, now didn't it? Tried to keep me safe, did he?" I shouted back with my voice breaking. "I've had my heart broken, stomped on and crushed. I've also been held up at gun-point, been run over and been attacked by a crazy, psycho Nanny!"
"He has always been there!"
"If he was there, I wouldn't have the scars."
He wasn't there. Edward Cullen was never there.
He-he-hellooo! Long time no talk. Sorry about my sudden hiatus. There is no explanation really; I was lazy. I couldn't really think of any ideas. This is just a one-shot because I don't know how it would go. It just popped up but if people like it (and I'm inspired) I may continue it. Hope you enjoyed. Lmao it's so short I don't expect you to but anyway...
Reviews are love ;)
