Author's note: This is something new I'm trying out it's a sort of alternate history and sci-fi at the same time. Also I'll try to publish a chapter every other week, enjoy.

Chapter 1

Italy 250 BC, the known world is under the control of one of the most well-known civilizations in History, the Romans. The Roman Empire was prosperous in this era bringing roads, sewage, and arts to the world around them. However in the city of Rome at this time was quiet deserted, there was nobody in the usually busy streets, and some of the buildings were in decay. All was quiet until from the dreary silence emerged a blue box out of thin air. The door opened and the Doctor stepped through the door, clad in cricket whites, with an expression of anticipation. "Wait no, hold on. This can't be right." No sooner had the words come from his mouth than the doctor pulled back into the TARDIS just missing Adric who had also popped out. "What can't be right Doctor?" asked Adric looking around for the time lord. He heard the Doctor fidgeting with the console. He went back into the TARDIS finding the Doctor apparently trying to confirm the location. The Doctor frowned upon checking the date. "How can this be? The date on the controls is right." The Doctor said starting pressing buttons again and pulling levers again. "Doctor what can't it be what's wrong?" The Doctor finished entering something into the controls and pulled a lever. Nothing happened. "Doctor this is absurd why can't you just tell me where we are?" asked Adric thoroughly irritated. "Damn," the Doctor said angrily "I thought for sure that would fix it. Well Adric we're supposed to be in Rome." The Doctor took out his sonic screwdriver and ducked under the TARDIS. "Maybe there's something wrong with the absolute timing circuit." He removed the panel and his sonic screwdriver buzzed. Adric stared at him blankly. "But Doctor this looks just like the records of Rome on ancient Earth!" The Doctor got up and pulled down his cricket sweater. "You don't understand this can't be Rome, Rome was an immensely successful civilization! It's supposed to have bustling streets and busy markets." The Doctor passed Adric by and put on his hat. "Well one way or another there's something strange going on here, and I'm going to get to the bottom of it!" the Doctor stepped outside. "Wait Doctor I'm coming with you!" Adric yelled following him. Almost immediately after exiting he saw it was a mistake. The Doctor stood there with an alert face staring at a Roman patrol. The Doctor raised his hand feebly "How do you do? I'm the Doctor." The Roman general glared at him with an immensely nasty stare. "Your box appeared from nowhere. What form of gods are you?" asked the Roman eyes unblinking. "No not gods I think Decurion," said another addressing the angry Roman. "They must be working with the enemy. We should take these barbarians to the prefect." The soldier suggested. "You misunderstand we are travelers…" The Doctor began. "Silence!" The Decurion snapped. "We will take you to the prefect and he will decide your fate." The Decurion waited as the romans restrained the Doctor and Adric. "Doctor where are they taking us?" asked Adric trying to get loose from the Romans. "My guess is we're going to get to the bottom of this a bit sooner than we thought. That or they'll kill us." The Doctor said following the Romans. "Crap!" said Adric as they followed the romans to through the decaying buildings.
