Year 1014, Past
Arthur's POV
"Isn't it magnificent?" The young boy to my right spoke smoothly those dazzling blue eyes of his staring into the even darker night sky. I nodded in agreement as I hugged my knees to my chest and tilted my head back ever so slightly, taking in the wondrous sets of constellations that scattered the heavens and stretched on for miles. "This is the only place in which we can see the stars like this...I'm glad we found it together." He cast his alluring gaze towards me, and our eyes locked for the dozenth time that evening.
"Me too, Francis." I said almost in a whisper, before I allowed my lips to curl upwards into a gracious smile. Soon, the chilly late night air began to claw at my exposed skin fiercely people, sending icy shudders through my body. My hands latched onto my forearms and I firmly rubbed my fingers up and down the cold flesh, hoping to capture some warmth from the friction I was making. Noticing my quivering posture, Francis shuffled himself closer to me, draping his arm securely around my small and fragile frame. He pulled me into his own body and my trembling seized immediately. My head found its way to the crook of the older youths neck and Francis rested his chin in my sandy blonde locks before gently rocking me side to side.
A quiet but melodic hum passed his lips as soothed me; I was aware of his grip becoming a little tighter whilst he continued to emit the delicate tune. With my arms now clasped around his middle section, I snuggled into him, not caring what I was acting like or how I was appearing.
I was cold. It was as simple as that!
"Francis...Can I ask you something?" I questioned in a murmur, lifting my eyes to meet his. The French boy beamed widely and nodded.
"Oui, cheri."
Briefly, I averted my eyes to the millions of sparkling stars above, once again taking my breath away. Our eyes connected again, and I gazed at what I thought was the brightest star in the universe. With blush now staining my cheeks magenta, I pursed my lips.
"Do you think that we'll still be friends when we are older? Will we stick by each others side?"
Francis smile grew in size and a mellow chuckle sounded in the back of his throat. He took my hand in his, lacing our fingers together before pressing a loving kiss to my burning face.
And he nodded.
"Of course we will!"
