Ryan Wolfe walked into the Miami -Dade crime lab with his usual swagger. He hadn't got far, when Calleigh Duquesne grabbed his arm and pulled him to one side.
"Watch your back Ryan!" she hissed.
Ryan looked at her, a look of shock and amusement.
"What?!"
Her eyes darted around the lobby before she answered.
"Eric's on his way down, and he's looking for you!"
"Why?" Ryan asked, still amused by her apparent terror.
She tossed her long blonde hair over her shoulder before she answered.
"He say's you swiped his badge out the bedside cabinet before you guys left."
Her eyes sparkled suddenly, and widened.
"Did you?!"
Ryan shrugged.
"I thought it would be a laugh yer."
She laughed before she darted away.
"I don't think he does!"
Ryan sighed. He had never seen Calleigh act like that. Anyway he highly doubted Eric could get that mad with him. Well come on, he thought. It had only been a joke, and they lived together so he couldn't stay mad for long. Right?
Just as he was thinking this, he almost ran into the young Cuban outside the DNA lab. He smiled sheepishly.
"Hey Eric!"
Eric dismissed this greeting, holding out his hand.
"Hand it over."
Ryan tried to act aloof.
"Hand what over?"
Eric's face told him this was not the time to play games. He quickly withdrew the badge from his pocket and handed it over.
Eric nodded at him, and began to turn away. Ryan called after him.
"It was a joke!"
Eric swung round.
"A joke? Ry, do you remember what happened last time I lost my badge? How could you be so insensitive?"
Ryan nodded humbly.
"I'm really sorry Eric! I'll do anything to make it up to you!"
Eric rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
"Well……"
"Anything!"
Eric smiled nastily.
"The next ten crime scenes we get with dumpster diving…."
He pointed at Ryan.
"You."
Ryan groaned.
"Come on! Ten! How about five?"
Eric looked at him, eyebrows raised.
"Do you really think I want to negotiate this?"
Ryan shook his head. Dumpster duty! He cast his eyes upwards. What had he done to deserve this? Then he remembered - Whoops!
He turned to Eric and gave him a hug. The Cuban rolled his eyes.
"Ry, I'm mad at you - but not that mad!"
He held the hug for a moment, then pushed the young CSI away.
"Now get lost, or you'll be sleeping alone tonight!"
Ryan nodded eagerly and pulled away. Just then Calleigh came passed again. She smiled.
"Glad to see you two made up!"
Eric grinned again.
"Ah yes, but just wait till you hear his punishment!"
Calleigh raised an eyebrow, and Ryan sighed.
"Ten cases worth of dumpster diving!"
Calleigh grinned.
"Good, that means no way will I have to!"
She held out her immaculate nails with a dramatic sigh.
"I just got these done!"
Both Ryan and Eric looked at her with wide eyes. Then they both laughed, walking down off the corridor. Ryan smiled at his lover.
"Promise never to get mad again?"
Eric smiled.
"Just make sure you don't act like a doofus again and we're cool."
Ryan made a face of fake anguish.
"I'm not a doofus!"
Eric laughed again, and walked off, leaving a very confused Ryan behind. Calleigh joined Ryan just for a moment. She gave a childish giggle.
"You just keep thinking that!"
She left and Ryan stood alone, wondering what had happened to the world. He looked around himself. No, he thought. I didn't think we were still in High School! Confused, he walked away. What had happened to Calleigh?! He smiled. At least he knew one thing - he wouldn't have to sleep alone tonight.
His thoughts wandered back to his bedroom, ruby red, were he saw himself - and the love of his life. He smiled. At least some things never changed he thought, making his way down to Ballistics.
