Disclaimer: I don't own Tale Of Two Cities

"Lucie are you alright darling," Charles asked her softly

"I am," she said as a tear rolled down her eyes.

"I miss him too," Charles said putting his hand on his wife's shoulder.

She looked up when he said that.

"I thought I was a bad person," she said, "I thought that I was dishonoring you-"

"Lucie," he said gently, "Missing your friend is not being a bad person. It's called being human."

In that moment Lucie's guilt ceased and her grief started to fade away. He was her friend. There would always be a part of her that missed him. She had been given permission to feel. Her husband wrapped his arms around her and allowed her to release her tears. When she was done she felt better.

"Thank you Charles," Lucie whispered.

"For what," he asked confused.

"Thank you for letting me feel," Lucie said, "Thank you for not getting mad at me for missing my friend."

"I could never get mad at you for that," he told her stroking her cheek.

Little Lucie came outside to play.

"Mommy are you alright," she asked.

"Yes darling," Lucie said softly, "I'm alright"

From then on everything was alright.
