"I see." Headmistress McGonigal stared across her desk at three furious faces. They belonged to Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ronald Weasley. "You are all agreed on this."

"Yes Professor," Harry Potter stated. "We are."

"Very well, Mr. Potter, Miss Granger, Mr. Weasley. I shall make the announcement during supper." She pursed her lips. "If that is all, you may go."

Ronald Weasley left the office with a grin and a loud whoop.

That evening, in the Great Hall the Golden Trio sat at the Gryffindor table casting glances over at the Slytherin Table, where the Head Boy Draco Malfoy sat morosely.

"Do you think he knows," Hermione leaned towards Harry and Ron and whispered.

"Merlin, I hope not." Ron said agitatedly. "I've been looking forward all day to this. I just can't wait to see the look on his face."

Harry was about to add something when Headmistress McGonigal entered the Great Hall, striding up the center aisle. "May I have your attention please." Her eyes swept the room as she waited for the students to quiet down."I have an announcement."

"This is it," Ron said gleefully.

"It has come to my attention," Professor McGonigal said, "that some of you have a problem with my choice for Head Boy." Draco Malfoy's head jerked at this and he looked puzzled. "Three of you have come to me demanding his removal. I spent the afternoon coming to a decision."

A grin split across Ron's face and he rose to grin triumphantly at the Slytherin Table.

"I have reconsidered my reasons for selecting Draco Malfoy as Head Boy. I believe them to be even more valid now than they were when I first made my decision."

The grin left Ron's face and he sank back down in his seat.

"If I could Draco Makfot would remain as Head Boy."

Ron's face sank even further."

"However, the decision has been taken out of my hands." Professor McGonigal glanced at the Slytherin table. "I am sorry Mr. Malfoy. Mr. Turpin, the head of the Board of Governors owled me demanding your dismissal as Head Boy."

"That's what I wanted to say," Harry whispered to Ron and Hermione. "I owled Turpin this afternoon."

"That's brilliant Harry," Ron grinned

"Therefore," Professor McGonigal raised her voice. "Bowing to the wishes of the Board of Governors, Mr. Harry Potter will be your new Head Boy."

Professor McGonigal stood in the middle of the Great Hall and waited until the cheering died down and the students were once again quiet. She had more to say.

"Effective immediately, I am resigning as Headmistress, and from any teaching position at Hogwarts School of witchcraft and Wizardry."
