E M E R A L D E Y E S . . .
Eyes the color of emerald gem
hide pain and loneliness within.
a flashing smile to hide desire
for love not quenched by deadly fire,
And smokey lenses serve to cover
true feelings from a one-night lover.
The cigarette he never loses,
is a part of the life that he chooses,
while each night he sits, with drink in hand,
spending his time as a drunken man.
He tries to forget the life he had,
he tries to keep from going mad.
But he can't forget the life he led,
he can't forget his love is dead.
And now he lives two different lives,
one that is normal, one based on lies.
The first selling flowers day by day,
The other at night, taking life away.
But in each life there are emerald eyes,
seeking to find hope amidst the lies...
