The couch seemed like a pretty good place to sit and think things over. Or at least, to Sonic anyways. In the comfort of his and Tails's house, forehead resting in the palms of his hands, elbows propped up on his legs. His ears were turned back as he gave a quiet sigh, shaking his head. "Why do things have to be so difficult?"

"Sonic?"

At the sound of his name the blue hedgehog put his gloved hands down, lifting his head to see his little brother at the doorway. His eyes met the kitsune's, a moment of silence. Another sigh followed pursuit as he looked off. "Hey Tails."

"Hey..." He murmured, walking over to the green-colored couch and sitting next to the other. He eyed his figure carefully before speaking. "What's wrong?"

"I'd rather not talk about it." Was the reply.

"Oh come on, you know you can tell me anything."

Sonic glanced over quietly. More silence. Ugh, it was too eerie for him. The tension between the two now was unnecessary and it just made him feel more aggravated. "It's Amy, Tails. It s Amy Rose."

Tails nodded. "What about her? Is she bugging you again or something? I thought you could always handle her and that big hammer."

"I can..." Sonic replied, moving a hand to rest his cheek against it. Suddenly his interest had turned towards the white wall in front of him. "But..Not in this way."

After spending countless years following Sonic around, listening to him when he was excited, sad, confused, he learned to understand him easily, how he thought, felt. And from those five words, he got his predicament. He was having feelings towards Amy. And feelings that weren t the best friend kind.

"Oh...What's the issue with that? I always thought you could use a girlfriend." Tails said, trying to cheer his older brother figure up. But his effort was futile as Sonic continued to stare off, looking as frustrated as ever.

"The issue is one name, Tails. Just one." He replied. "Eggman. If I were to date Amy, he'd know in a heartbeat. I know she can take care of herself just fine for sure, but it'd complicate things. What if he went after her? Wanted to actually harm her? I could never forgive myself, and.." He trailed off from his ramble slowly so the other could catch up.

Even though Sonic paused, Tails remained quiet to think this through. His mind processed it before he looked back at the other. "I don't think you should worry."

That was unexpected. "Huh?"

"Don't worry." Tails replied. He had a wide smile on his face. "Like you said- Amy can take care of herself. And you? Pfft, of course you can! You're Sonic The Hedgehog! Together, wouldn't you be an unstoppable team rather than an easy target? Besides, I'm sure Eggman already guessed she s a soft spot for you. He hasn't targeted her yet, has he?"

The last comment caused Sonic to blush and mutter something under his breath. "No...I guess you're right."

"So why don't you go tell her?"

"W-What?..I...No!" Sonic turned and crossed his arms stubbornly. "No way on Mobius am I telling her now! It'd be weird! I'm Sonic, I don t date! I s-"

Tails then mimicked the hedgehog by waging a finger. It got a grin out of the older one, and Tails received a ruffle to his hair. "Hey, haha!"

"Wonder where I've seen that one before..." Sonic teased, rolling his eyes. "But..I guess you're right. Again. I fight robots, stop bad guys. Asking a girl out shouldn't be hard...Right? Right." Sonic then stood up, brushed himself off and confidently walked to the door, mumbling something about Girls and the word 'Right'.

The young fox grinned and once the door was shut, burst into amused laughter.
