Part 3

Detention was as boring as i thought it was. At least though, there was no teacher. Then this Dan guy comes and sits next to me, putting a red spherical thing on the desk. Then I realized it was a bakugan. "He may be being stubborn right now, but this is my partner Drago! He's the reason I got detention." He leaned his head on one hand and rolled Drago around on the desk with the other. "He's really cool!" he continued "He's super powerful and he can talk too!" I sat up instantly "TALK?" I demanded. Then Dan got interrupted by the principle's announcement telling us to go home.

I was going to try to ditch Dan, but the fact he said that Drago could talk was a bit hard for me to just let slide. "So Dan, you said your bakugan talked to you?" "You bet!" he instantly shot back with great enthusiasm. "He's the most powerful bakugan I've ever seen! But when i try to get him to talk in front of people he just sits there." He stared down in disappointment at Drago. "Maybe he just doesn't want everyone to know? Did you ever think of that?" I tried not to sound rude, and then i realized Dan wasn't too perceptive, because he seemed to not hear the hidden insult in my question. "Yeah, maybe..." he was still staring at his bakugan, as if he was trying to beet it at a staring contest.

Suddenly the bakugan popped open, "For pete's sake human! Would you STOP THAT?" instinctively I took a step back from Dan "I don't believe it! He CAN talk!" "yet another futile human mind." Drago said seemingly unimpressed. "HEY! I'm not stupid!" i snapped back "but seriously Dan if he's a living thing, you need to give the guy some space." If the little plastic dragon could move his face, I'm sure his expression would have changed, because his tone sure did. "Why would you care human?" I was stunned! I was trying to be nice, and all this hunk of talking plastic was doing was dissing me anyway! "Tell your little marble friend to pipe down!" "i can hear you Drago commented. "You think I really care?" I barked back. "Hey! Cool it you guys!" surprised, i turned to see that the over-dramatic-Dan was the only of us who wasn't arguing. "Whatever," i moaned "I don't really care anyway." I turned from Dan and started on my way back home.

Walking alone, i had some time to think. "Why did I always have to be one of the only kids all over the world who doesn't have a bakugan?" "Why do bu I /b/u always has to look after Marcy?" "Why do buI /b/ualways have to be that 'bad-seed-runaway-orphan'?" "Why buME/b/u?"

I was so caught up with the anger in my head that I didn't hear Dan yelling as he ran up from behind me. bBLAM!/b"The hell is the matter with you?" i demanded as I tried to get to my feet. "Sorry dude," he laughed, "But I just had an awesome idea! I've got a whole case of bakugan at home! I could lend you some if you want?"

I was shocked! A minute ago, I just was one o the rudest people in the world. And here was Dan acting like we were best buds and it never happened. I changed my expression from confused idiot to a simple grin. "Nah, I think I'm good Dan. But thanks."

Just as we were going to go our separate ways, I turned towards home just to be knocked over by Marcy. When we were back on our feet, I realized that Marcy was wearing the biggest smile I've ever seen on his face. Not because of our awkward fall. He looked absolutely ecstatic.
