I Promise
Author's Note: This one-shot is taken from chapter 35 of The Lost Hero. This is my attempt to try and capture what Thalia was thinking as the bridge melted. Please read and leave an honest review.
That annoying boy Leo is melting the bridge, I realize as I run back across the icy path trying not to look down or back. I almost stop as a thought hits me. If I had looked back almost 12 years ago I could have saved him, but it's too late now and I'm about to lose him again. My brain starts panicking, but I stop myself, knowing I have to keep my cool. I quickly turn around to where Jason is and shout, "Go!" I start running back down the bridge again. "Find out where the giant is keeping Piper's dad. Save him! I'll take the hunters to the Wolf House and hold it until you can get there. Be safe. We can do both!" Jason looks at me with a confused, frustrated expression and shouts back, "but where is the Wolf House?"
"It's..." I stop. I want to scream, "It's where I lost you" but that won't help him remember and it's not the right time for emotion. Instead I yell, "You know where it is, little brother!" I hope he can remember. How did lose his memory anyway? Ugh, stupid ADHD. The wind started to blow hard and I realized I have to hurry, but I can't leave him just yet. I needed to give him some comfort especially if this is the last time I'll see him. "I'll see you there. I promise." I had said the same thing to him twelve years ago and maybe this time it will be true. Twelve years had really changed a lot. My little even baby brother is my age (I mean literally) and can look down on me, but I never will age. We had reunited and he didn't even remember me. He had said Hera, curse her, had taken his memory. Even though I had never forgotten him, I can barely recognize him except for the scar. Will I attend his funeral if he dies of old age? That thought scared me. I'll see you there soon Jason. I promise.
"Thalia, where do we go next?" Phoebe asks me, interrupting my solemn thoughts.
"To the Wolf House," I reply.
As she walks away to tell the others the new plan, I repeat my conviction aloud, "I'll see you there soon Jason. I promise."
Hope you enjoyed the story please remember to review whether you liked it or not.
