PASSIONATE RUKAWA?
I see Kaede Rukawa as a person of burning passion. People would really question this judgment. Believe me. It's because everybody sees him as someone expressionless and emotionless; someone with a personality as cold as ice, frozen a thousand degrees below zero. He has no one to officially call a friend, except probably for a pet black cat, which existence is even questionable. No one even knows if he has a family. He rarely talks to anybody, and when he does he says a word or a phrase and rarely a sentence and only to a very few people. No one has seen him laugh or even smile. Rukawa's face is typically devoid of emotions.
People somehow see yet ironically overlook other aspects. You see, for someone so cold-blooded he is extremely passionate for three things, basketball, sleeping and fighting with Hanamichi Sakuragi. That means there is blazing inferno, which exists in that thousand degrees below zero personality.
It's no question when I say that basketball is his life, his every breath and the very thing that flows in his veins. When he is not playing basketball you often catch him sleeping or in another bout with Sakuragi, a jealous team mate. Sleeping is his hobby. He sleeps anytime, anywhere whether in class, on the school rooftop or even wile riding his bike on his way home, except of course in basketball games or practices. This guy loves sleeping so much that it is better to just leave him asleep swimming in his own pool of drool than wake him up and you'll be swimming in your own pool of blood! His other passion is annoying Sakuragi. They often get into heated altercations, exchanging stabbing words, which often ends up in exchange of punches and kicks.
With all these, still think he's cold? I suppose not! Passionate Rukawa? That's no longer a question!
