Rapunzel opened her eyes. Tears welled up as they adjusted to the bright light.
"Where…am…I?"
As she looked around, she realized that the room she was in was windowless, almost like a prison cell. There were metallic contraptions all around her. When she tried to move her arms, she found them both chained up. She was about to try and pull on them when she realized that they were attached to two crossbows rigged to set off.
"What the hell is going on?"
A crackling sound echoed through the chamber. A deep gruff voice mumbled.
"Rapunzel."
"Who…who is this?" Rapunzel whispered, trembling in fear. Where was her frying pan?
Ignoring her, the voice continued.
"I want to play a game. Ten years ago, when given a choice between a man you met only two days back, and the woman who raised you for eighteen years…"
"HOW DO YOU KNOW THIS?" Rapunzel screamed. Who was this person? What did he want?
"…you picked the man, Eugene Fitzherbert. Now you will be given the choice again. Pulling the left chain will kill Eugene, the man you supposedly 'love' and set you and your foster mother free."
A lightbulb burst to life, revealing an surprised Eugene on the end of one of the crossbow.
"Blondie, where are we? What the hell is this place? WHY IS THAT CROSSBOW POINTED AT ME?"
"Ahem. If you pull the right chain, it will kill Gothel, the woman who raised you for eighteen years and set you and your husband free. Kin or Love, make your…"
PFFT! CK!
The second lightbulb went on, revealing a dead Mother Gothel, a arrow piercing her chest, a crimson hue surrounding it.
"What? I didn't even get to say the best part! How could you kill her so fast? It…it was supposed to be you sweating and trying to make the best decision, while…while they both begged for their lives!"
"Whatever. If this is your idea of a torture chamber, it needs more work. Now where's the exit?" Rapunzel scoffed.
There was a long silence, then a heavy sigh. Rapunzel could hear the sound of a lever being pulled. Without warning, the chains ensnaring her and Eugene were loosened. A red neon arrow burst to life, pointing out a doorway.
"Exit's that way."
