Disclaimer:I own nothing! I mean it!

Summary:Maybe we weren't meant to be together in this lifetime. Maybe if we had a second chance in the future… Maybe.

A/N:I'm not following any storyline by the way. I'm just tweaking everything to fit this evil scheme – er, I mean, this plotline of mine :D Teaser for a crossover fic! Do watch out for it ;)

The end is drawing near.

They knew they didn't have much time before it was time for the final scene to debut.

The final scene.

The final battlefield.

It was time.

They were all huddled together with their loved ones, in the common rooms, the day before the last battle, whispering words of encouragement to each other.

"We'll all make it out alive. We will, so don't worry!"

"We've been preparing for this day for so long. We're ready to take them on!"

"Something like this wouldn't kill me!"

That was what they all said.

They may not have believed it themselves, but it was the only motivation to drive themselves on.

Everyone was present except for two certain Exorcists.

That solemn night found said missing Exorcists lying side by side on a bed, holding hands.

No words were needed between them.

To them, actions speak louder then words, any day.

"Hey Kanda, do you believe in reincarnation?"

"Baka moyashi, why would I? It's just some stupid shit that people believe in to make themselves feel better."

"Well, I believe in them."

"…"

"What?"

"That is just so like you."

"Shut up, BaKanda!"

Silence.

"Hey, Kanda?"

"What?"

"Ah… Nothing."

"Tch."

And that night, even though they couldn't sleep well, they were just contented when they quietly held hands.

Innocence and Dark Matter clashed in a heated battle.

Blood was spilt.

Live were lost, on both sides.

But only one will emerge victorious in this bloody war.

Even then, a price had to be paid for peace.

The Innocence had won.

Every last piece of Dark Matter has been completely obliterated off the face of the Earth.

The Exorcists had carried out their job, their purpose. They were now free to go back to their old lives, back to their loved ones.

Even then, the atmosphere was still heavy.

Two of their best Exorcists, one of whom was a young General, had both lost their lives in this Holy War. The young General and his companion had taken on the Earl, neither was willing to leave the other alone, especially when they knew that this would be their last moment together.

They were together to the very end.

Hands intertwined and bodies lay close together. Their unspoken promise was already put into action, their fates tied together by a red string.

No matter what happens, their promise to each other will be fulfilled.

The land was completely destroyed during the war.

Many places were already deemed uninhabitable since the soil in the area had lost all its nutrients, its ability to support anymore life.

But six pieces of land was left.

Just those six pieces of land.

A treaty was signed by the government officials who were still alive. They had split themselves into six groups, each managing one of the remaining land, forming the Reconstruction Council.

Six city states were built.

Six city states were designed to bring safety and security to its people.

Six city states were meant to be utopias, so as to reflect on themselves and not be engaged in another war again.

For them to be happy, so that sadness and desperation would not cloud one's decision-making.

Six utopias were to be made.
