I was seven the first time my mother told me about guardian angels, I was simply overjoyed. The idea of a beautiful angel watching over me, protecting me, it was a wonderful feeling. I asked my mother about guardian angels again when I was nine.
"Mommy, are all guardian angels girls?" I looked up at her; we were both sitting on the couch at the time, with questioning eyes.
"No sweetie, there are boy angels too." My mother smiled at me, I was happy about what she had said. I thought it would be sad if there weren't any boy angels.
"But there are never any boy angels in pictures, just girl angels." I was confused; didn't the boy angels want to be in pictures too?
"I guess the boy angels are just a little more shy than the girl angels.
"Okay." I was thinking about what she said, and then a thought came and smacked me in the forehead. "Mommy, what does my guardian angel look like?"
She smiled again and hugged me, "Sweetie, you're the only one that knows what your guardian angel looks like."
After the hug, I grinned and giggled a little, "Well, I'm gonna be different! I'm gonna have a boy angel!"
I had wanted to be different, and I felt bad for the boy angels. But, I never truly knew what a guardian angel was till I actually met one.
And I learned a lot about guardian angels.
I learned that guardian angels didn't have to be saints.
(Mine swore a lot.)
Guardian angels didn't have to live in heaven.
(Mine lived in Feudal Japan.)
Guardian angels didn't have to be human.
(Mine was only half.)
That day, I learned that the love of your life could be your guardian angel.
(Mine definitely was.)
That day, I learned that guardian angels could be those who loved you, watched over you, and protected you from guys in baboon pelts.
(Mine does, every day of my life.)
I learned that a half-human half-demon boy with long, silver hair and big golden eyes could be your guardian angel.
(Mine is, and he's the best guardian angel you could get.)
Inuyasha.
My love.
My
life.
My Guardian Angel.
